Director Gao Xiao Song explained that he set himself the goal of creating something “fresh” for a young audience. He admitted that he worked on the film for 5 years, and before filming began, the script was rewritten 31 times.
Pollak said "Celestial Pictures" first attracted to the project two years ago. Sammo Hungg, who was also present at "HK Filmart", claimed that it was the best script he had read in his forty years of acting career.
