Filming of the action movie Ninja 2 has completed

The arduous and intense filming of Isaac Florentine's action thriller Ninja 2, starring Scott Adkins and Kane Kosugi, has come to an end in Bangkok.

An advanced team consisting of a director Isaac Florentine and leading actor Scott Adkins, who was behind the creation of the second and third parts "Undeniable", "American Special Forces" и "Ninja", recently completed filming another martial arts film, a sequel to their previous project called "Ninja".

Mike Leader, famous casting director and publication editor "Impact", visited the set in Bangkok during the final days of the film's production. The cast and crew members, although exhausted after 40 days of filming and 16 (or so) stunning action scenes, were in high spirits. Taking a look at both the preliminary versions of the fights and the completed fights, Mike was pleased to learn that, apparently, the audience in the sequel "Ninja" martial arts await in even greater quantity and quality.

The relationship between Florentine, as a director, and Adkins, as the performer of the main roles, work as well as possible: Florentine "squeezes" out of Adkins all the best in him from a damn good movie fighter and actor, while Adkins continues to give viewers what they want to see - martial arts combined with athleticism. In its turn, Ross Clarkson, being the finest Western action cinematographer, once again proves how strong he is at his job.

Joined them in this film Kane Kosugi (DOA, Muscle Heat), son of the legendary ninja of the 80s Sho Kosugi, and if anyone has the ninja spirit in their blood, it's him. Kane He has excellent charisma, good looks and moves well, so it’s confusing that he hasn’t yet become a bigger star. He definitely earned the respect of the cast and crew with his work on this film. This time we see another Keina Kosugi, now he doesn't play the youthful hero, he's bearded and looks older and cooler, but the action in his performance is still incredible, and the serious fight between Kane и Adkins is such that it cannot be missed.

In charge of on-screen fights and stunt choreography Tim Man и Brahim Achabbake, who have rightfully earned honorable niches in the world of Thai combat cinema as stuntmen, fighters and choreographers. Timis perhaps best known for his work in "Bangkok adrenaline" and in the recently released action movie "Kill them all" с Gordon Liu, however, the quality of the original choreography Tim was far superior to the cut-down version of the final version, apparently edited by people who knew nothing about action. Brahim, who can be seen in a cameo role in "Man of Tai Chi", who starred in "Sanctuary" and in the not yet released "The Eagle's Way", worked with Tim on the choreography for the film. Mike Leader I was very impressed not only by their activities on the set, but also by watching the rough and finished versions of the fight scenes they developed. Tim Man will agree with Adkins in a good exchange of punches that will make people very happy.

Coming soon to the website impactonline.co will cover the information in more detail and publish a number of interviews with members of the cast and crew "Ninja 2", as the film is currently heading into post-production.

Wawe, from "City of Violence" here is one of the three most popular scenes:

I'll watch Once Upon a Time at a Korean School, Memories of Murder and City of Violence, thank you. And, yes, it is advisable to address me on a first name basis, however, this is optional :)

Ps I would like to see the video with the shaking removed. At one time, I analyzed the battle from the first “Bourne” almost frame by frame and cursed at the cameraman.

    Author's gravatar

Are you talking about the one that takes 15 minutes?

    Yes, about that one.

    Author's gravatar

    So, Renner didn’t play Bourne.

I know Damon turned down the role, so the writers came up with a new character)

    Author's gravatar

:-D I don’t remember something like that. Moreover, it shows how to remove the shaking. Maybe only you noticed it, because... you understand this matter. Are you talking about the one that takes 15 minutes?

    Author's gravatar

I would also like to see this video, where can I watch it?

      Author's gravatar

You sent it to me. ;) But I can’t find it. A short film, it looks like there were fights on the stairs.

    Author's gravatar

It's a pity...in the process, the public wants to go after Damon in the character, and sees no one else to play his character.

      Author's gravatar

      So, Renner didn’t play Bourne.

A little off-topic on the topic: some time ago I saw a video from the Thai team Jaika (OB, etc.), where they removed that very “Bourne” shaking of a hand-held camera in a very interesting way. Usually the picture is stabilized in only two axes, but it was in 3D (not to be confused with anaglyph and other dregs). The downside is that there is a lot of blackness around the edges, you need to shoot with a reserve.

    Author's gravatar

EvilDollaR, do you know if there will be a continuation of Bourne with Renner in Ch. roles?

      Author's gravatar

Even before the release, about six months ago, producer Frank Marshall talked about a possible sequel (his dream is Renner + Damon), but the film did not really live up to expectations at the box office. Hard to tell.

I advise you to watch the original with Chamberlain.

Of course, I watched the original =) In general, in most cases, I prefer old films to new ones.

PS: Since we’re briefly talking about Korean cinema, I recommend watching “Memories of Murder” (it’s not an action movie, it’s just a very strong film based on real events). And from the action - City of Violence (Jjakpae) with my favorite Jung Doo Hong. Of course, Korean cinema is a movie for everyone.

))) By the way, I can’t stand Bourne. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I think the merits of the film are greatly exaggerated)))

I agree, this picture is greatly overrated. In the first film, the first half is interesting... The second is made more like a thriller. And the camera work and editing of the action scenes are so disgusting and terrible that I wanted to spit at the screen! Personally, I didn’t understand a damn thing from Bourne’s fight with the hero of Dougray Scott!.. Who hit whom.. whose hand or leg or something else was there ....
I more or less liked the third part, and as always there are the same drawbacks in filming and editing, but not as bad as in the previous film. And there is more action there.
As for the fourth, I can say that I liked Renner and his game, but I wasn’t pleased with the ending, I expected a lot more from it (action)
One thing is interesting: will there be a continuation?)

"The shaky camera was somehow “on topic.” It added some dynamics to the battle scenes, action and the whole action in general; it created a feeling of nervousness, chaos, a natural battle mode, when it is not clear what is happening, everything is involved in adrenaline and reflexes, everything is fast. Author's gravatar

Jaidev, sometimes it even seemed to me that the shaky camera was somehow “on topic”. It added some dynamics to the battle scenes, action and the whole action in general; it created a feeling of nervousness, chaos, a natural battle mode, when it is not clear what is happening, everything is involved in adrenaline and reflexes, everything is fast. Against the backdrop of the dramatic score, music and understanding of the motivation of the main character, the shaky camera was perceived by me as an artistic device. Especially when Won Bin jumps out of the window. There the operator flew with him.

Wave, thank you for recommending MAN FROM NOWHERE. Excellent film! Of course it’s tough, what can I say, but as Ravenside noted, I believe the main character and generally believe him. The movie really grabs you!!! You watch it and truly experience it. And I even wrote off shortcomings in the camera work, which often shook (well, I don’t like this style. Personally, I’m closer to the Jackie Chan school of his films). God with these shortcomings. And most importantly, I want to not only rewatch this movie, but also recommend it for viewing.

"Nowhere Man" is a great movie. The story is far from original, but the film's nerve, aesthetics, music - everything is on point. Koreans are some of my favorite filmmakers. The hero of Vaughn Bean, despite such a “pop appearance”, has inner strength. Even if he had never fought, I would “believe” him. I played everything exactly as much as needed. Plus his opponent and the girl that Won Bin saves - everything is spot on.

Dear, have you watched the Korean “Nowhere Man” starring Won Bin? If not, I highly, highly recommend it. I accidentally came across an incomparable knife fight scene, watched the film, and it turned out that the film is a powerful crime drama. “Hostage” wasn’t even close, IMHO.

Thanks for the info! I haven’t seen this film, but...I’ll watch it today. Koreans make good movies. I've been interested in it since ONE DAY IN KOREAN SCHOOL with Kong Sang Woo, who played with Jackie in Zodiac.
OldBoy is interesting in its specificity and plot! I liked him. And fighting with a hammer without editing is an interesting find!

Jaidev, I wouldn’t say that it’s bad compared to the same B films where the fights are sped up one and a half times and are unnatural. This is a realistic time.

PS The coolest Soviet fighting game in the film “Fan” (1989) with Alexey Serebryakoy in ch. roles.

I rewatched it recently. The film itself is good. And the contractions aren’t great, but that’s okay...! They look.
AMERICAN FIGHT and RANSOM had some good scenes. And the films are good. RANSOM is generally an amazing comedy with Khostikoev and Ravikovich (may he rest in heaven)!!!
As for me, I’m ready to watch PIRATES OF THE XX CENTURY a million times. I like this picture! And heroes, and music and shooting! Not enough action though! Soviet censorship cut it out. It was like I saw a Russian trailer and was stumped. There was so much going on in the battle on the ship. Well, of course... It felt like there was a lot more there!!!
    youtube.com/watch?v=WGLwVmel8ds

    Author's gravatar

The FIGHTER saw it. The contractions are not bad. BUT they were filmed simply disgustingly. About installation is a completely separate topic. We have a lot of real talent in Russia, but the producers are outright freaks! They would rather make garbage like THE BEST MOVIE or WHAT MEN DO than raise a bright and necessary example for young people.
Once we were talking with Valery Derkach about CLIP-CLIMBER, to which he replied - this girl did a lot of wonderful tricks and fought well, and the producers should cut out many of her efforts. I'm out!
We need to look for new and interesting faces.
Take Gaidai. After all, no matter what the actor, he has a type!!! Exactly!

    Author's gravatar

Come on, in Undisputed 2 the plot is also present and I want to look no longer at Boyka, but at the character of Chambers performed by Jay White.

Jaidev, yes, there was at least some motivation before. And now it’s like a parkour competition. I advise you to watch our series fighter, there are 2-3 fights where they are generally great, although there are a lot of weak blows, and the actor is interesting, Alexander I.
And almost our Orlovsky went well to the cinema, it looks good.

    Author's gravatar

I keep track of almost EVERYTHING that happens in KinoBI and everywhere I have the same problem - the lack of interesting stories that I could really care about.
Let's take UNDIPUTIBLE for example. Come on, let's go to this prison. Well, I don’t like the prison theme, no matter what! On the one side.
But on the other hand, I always watch The Shawshank Redemption as if for the first time. And I know every frame by heart, but I still watch it. After all, it really “catches”. Florentine is a good fighting game director. I remember watching BLOODY HARVEST (Rebel) with Gehry many times, even when there was a copy on a licensed videotape from the Pyramid company. And SAVATT was a good Western fighting game with a story. + Florentine has an interesting way of working with the camera when creating action. But it was correctly noted above - Action is just an integral part of the big picture. That’s why I watch Jackie’s films from beginning to end, and sometimes I skip Sammo’s films from fight to fight. Because the first creates the film itself, and the fights decorate it, and the second focuses on the action, while everything else just stalls.
As for THE UNSTOPPABLES, we must admit that the films themselves are weak and we only go to the king to give tribute to those, thanks to whom, you and I have not yet lost our masculine character and fortitude with the desire to win in our troubled lives!!!

    Author's gravatar

The Expendables 2 was also not great compared to the first film. Everyone expected something more, and as a result, many left the theaters dissatisfied after watching it, including me and my friends.

Well...both films were very...not ice. Judging objectively, the second part is more successful (box office receipts, criticism, audience ratings), but there are plenty of disadvantages.

By the way, in my case... the whole hall left EXTREMELY satisfied, I have never seen such satisfied people (after the session). But after The Expendables 1, the first comment was.... "What a crap" and the whole room silently agreed.

PS It was a pity to watch Adkins in the final battle against Statham.

Yes, the villains there were completely leaked (MEGA-villains Jean and Hector between them killed 6 people in the entire film, and Christmas alone killed a couple of hundred), although they also had cool moments (Jean-Claude looked cool, and at least Scott wasn’t leaked like Daniels and let me show myself how cool I am for a minute).

The Expendables 2 was also not great compared to the first film. Everyone expected something more, and as a result, many left the theaters dissatisfied after watching it, including me and my friends. Well...in the vast majority of cases, he is not to blame for the average result. + The Expendables 2 and Target Number One (despite the small role) are certainly not nonsense.

    Author's gravatar

JOHNSON, of course they won’t give him the role. But he at least partially played her in “Wolverine.”

    Author's gravatar

I found out about him just after Darkman. I hope that Adkins will also have a similar breakthrough in the near future, otherwise the omnipresent Statham (who already owes a lot to Cyrille) has already begun to slowly become boring.

EvilDollaR, what does Raffaelli have to do with it?

Regarding Deadpool, I completely agree! Scott is much better suited for this role, but the chances of his candidacy are very slim... I don’t think there is any need to explain why this is so... But a miracle may happen if Ryan is busy with other projects and/or is unable to take part in the filming , and Scott will appear on the horizon...))

      Author's gravatar

His team of Frenchmen is still carrying the "Transporter" franchise, including the new series. And "Carrier" was to Statham what "Ong-Bak" was to Jaa or "Undisputed" to Adkins (IMO).

He's acting in some kind of nonsense, forgive me of course. Although a lot is filmed. And while he is somewhat... clumsy.

"DTV films for massacres, so you can limit yourself to short fights"

There is no money paid for short films. Quite the opposite.

“Here, about the banal, for example, I recently rewatched “Drunken Master 2″... do you really like (well, who likes him) in this film only scuffles and stunts?”

That's what I'm talking about. Undisputed 3, Ip Man are those films in which I enjoy watching more than just fights. You can give the example of The Karate Kid with Jackie and Smith's son, and (roughly speaking) the best example is .... Rocky, where the fights are just terrible, but everything else is just great.

"and no one puts pressure on the creators"

There is VERY strong pressure on creators (directors) and do not allow them to fully reveal their ideas (sometimes this is a plus, but often a minus).

"Will Adkins play Boyka until he's 50?)))"

I don’t think + no one, no one... but Scott definitely can’t be blamed for sitting and doing nothing between Boykas =)

    Author's gravatar

Well, he received the Saturn Award for Darkman when he was 39 or 40. By the way, he won the amateur youth boxing championship)) also, you know, a fighter). But comparing them with Adkins can only be a joke; each has their own path. And he was lucky with Schindler.

    Author's gravatar

Neeson was just in his fifth decade and began to gain momentum. :) Although, maybe this is because of Schindler and Star Wars.

    Author's gravatar

Celpaso, I agree, of course Undisputed is better than most fighting games, and no one puts pressure on the creators, but always making it at the same level and just a high-quality fighting game .. is that .. somehow boring? No?)) For a certain audience, for certain “connoisseurs” who will rewind everything except the fights.)) Will Adkins play Boyka until he’s 50?))) And then the stereotype you said will work: people will know in advance what expect from the film, and they will watch it with a certain “disposition of mind.”

    Author's gravatar

Well, this is bad, in my opinion, that it’s just a fight. Perhaps there is some meaning and reason in this - to occupy such a niche, purely fighting films. DTV films for massacres, so you can limit yourself to short fights. Shoot videos for 15 minutes, wave your legs.... And then everyone will make films for you for the sake of massacre, realizing that nothing else is needed. I'm just saying that we don't have complete pictures. Here, about the banal, for example, I recently rewatched "Drunken Master 2"... do you really like (well, who likes him) in this film there are only fights and stunts? and nothing more? What about Die Hard 1? Do you just like how McClane kills terrorists?

    Author's gravatar

I’m wondering how many of you are actually waiting for this movie, not for the purpose of watching a fighting game,

Ha..despite the fact that I do not agree with the assessment of Scott's acting ability. This phrase... is the golden truth. What everyone expects from Isaac and Scott, first and foremost, is a fight.

    Author's gravatar

Hmm... They finished filming Ninja... Who knows when and what Scott's next film will be?

    Author's gravatar

I’m wondering how many of you are waiting for this film, not for the purpose of watching a fighting game, but for the purpose of seeing Scott Adkins play, in the hope of revealing his acting talents? Or maybe for someone the plot is most important in the first place?

Let's face it, most people watch because they love the beautiful fight choreography. Scott is a great screen fighter and nothing more. So the exclamations about his performance in films don’t even have to stutter))
Most likely, don’t expect much from the plot, the main thing is that it’s not too stupid and is generally present in the film!
A bad example of a plot in Undisputed 3. If in the second film it was still suitable and even more than, then in the third part it simply does not exist! The dialogue is sometimes comical, sometimes stupid. (especially when performed by Jenkins, not everyone can replay and make puns like that))) The emphasis was only on fights, and everyone knows it. So let's cross our fingers and hope the film comes out soon.

PS As for Liam Neeson.....well, you compared PPC...also compare Florentine with Nolan)))

    Author's gravatar

“Is this a highly artistic film? Or does it raise some new questions? Haven’t you seen anything like this? Or do you at least empathize with Boyka with all your heart?”

Did I call it a highly artistic film? No. And he didn’t say anything about questions. There are a lot of similar things, but that’s not what I was talking about. YES, and I believe that Boyka goes beyond standard DTV heroes.

"These films will never grow into anything higher than just an action fighting game."

And what? Their (the tandem of Isaac and Scott) goal is to create a GOOD fighting game (under decent shooting conditions) for a certain circle of viewers. If no one puts pressure on them, then they get awesome fighting games like Undisputed 2,3, if they are interfered with, then they get absolutely average works like Ninja and Shepherd. I hope Ninja 2 will be among the first (because on paper...conditions still look better than usual).

"Neson's acting is one of the elements of good cinema that I was talking about"

The funny thing is that when some generally recognized GOOD and versatile actors play in PURE action films, I (SPECIFICALLY in these films) don’t see any super-cool game that I couldn’t show... well, let’s say Jean-Claude, whom many considered a "stupid leg-swinger".

It's just a matter of psychology: roughly speaking, take Van Damme as a Hostage... everyone will go to a stupid action movie, take Nisson... everyone will go to a cool action movie with great acting, etc. and so on. Moreover, in the second case, Nisson does not have to show this very “magnificent acting”; they will see it anyway, because the viewer will react to this film with a much greater mood.

About Undisputed 3: I put it above a large number of fighting games, because... there's more to it than just fighting, and it's a full movie, not a showreel. And despite the fact that I do not compare this film with Oscar-winning films, I think that such films deserve to be released in cinemas, because... they are of high quality (despite the meager budgets and poor filming conditions) and will definitely find their audience.

    Author's gravatar

Celpaso, come on, come on. What is this highly artistic cinema? Or does it raise some new questions? Haven't you seen anything like this? Or do you at least empathize with Boyka with all your heart? I may, of course, be nitpicking very much, because Florentine is still (pun intended) an “undeniably” talented person. But just if we keep saying that “the plots are very good for fighting games, unlike most...” then these films will never grow into anything higher than just a fighting game. Fights are not an end in themselves, but an artistic technique. I believe that you cannot create a film with the goal of simply showing a showreel of this or that on-screen fighter. Sometimes you have to forget about all these “fights” and make a film, roughly speaking. Undeniable 2 or 3 - a worthy movie, but cramped and full of clichés, by the way, I watched it in the original with subtitles, I agree that both the translation and the same subtitles generalize the translation, it is not accurate. Ninja 1 is a very beautiful film for its budget and format, but a superficial film, one of many. Adkins is an absolutely replaceable character there, both as a fighter and as an actor. There is a minimum script and very little logic in the action scenes (for example, did you notice how many innocent victims there are? People killed bloodily and with a pistol on the streets, in cafes, students at the professor’s, and at this time Adkins simply trips up his opponents. What’s with the rating? ? )
By the way, about "Hostage". Neeson's acting is one of the elements of good cinema that I was talking about. I believe in Neeson and his character, but not in Adkins yet, let him be super muscular and jumpy. But, I agree, Florentine and Adkins achieved very well. high level, I wish them only progress.

Although I’m lying, I probably believe Boyka too)) but it’s not clear to me what kind of person he is.

    About Ninja 2.

You definitely shouldn’t wait until summer (even post-production may not be finished by this time). If there are no complications (as in the case of Re-Kill or.....Eagle Path JCVD), it will be released in the winter of 2014...well, maybe in December 2013

"In general, the elements of a good film - to be honest, they don't exist."

To be honest, there are WAY more of them in Undisputed 3 than in most fighting games. Scott and Mark Ivanir created excellent characters (for DTV films, bright secondary characters are a rarity), the dialogue is very good for its genre (Boyka with his Russian accent can be broken into quotes and in general the film should be watched in the original), the script, although hackneyed, but adequate and with a good twist at the end (I’m talking about Gaga), the music is perfectly chosen (Bring It On has been a hit since the second part, and questions about where to download this or that composition from Undisputed 2,3 compete with questions about when Undisputed 4 will be released.. .i.e. VERY popular questions).

"Really decent original script, deep, memorable dialogue"

For an action movie this is ABSOLUTELY not necessary. Example: Taken 1 and 2 with the most standard plots collect hundreds of millions of dollars only thanks to the production and the main character performed by Nisson.

In one of the photos there are Abrigen warriors, this is something new. It will be interesting to see a fight between a ninja and a tribe from the jungle.

It will be possible to spit poisoned darts through bamboo tubes)) This weapon is in the arsenal of both aborigines and ninjas.)

Tim is doing choreography... I hope he won’t be biased towards parkour-unreal-spin-air-fighting. Because, you know, he likes to spin in the air before making a shot...

I think that, unfortunately, there will be plenty of groundless spins in the air. Again, I mean that there is little progress. Everything they show we have already seen many, many times. For example, to get an impression of Adkins or Man, it is enough to watch one film each with them. That's all. And then - variations of the same thing from different angles and in different clothes. Qualitative variations, but of the same thing. Or maybe it's all just my taste.

It’s written well, that’s how it actually turns out...Usually the more beautiful the story, the worse it turns out in the end. Practice shows this. I hope everything really works out well.

I would also like the plot to be sane, of course)

They just need to gradually occupy a higher niche. Florentine and Adkins have been in the cinema for so long, but everyone doesn’t know what they’re doing. And the point, of course, is not so much about the money raised, but about the reach of the audience and the opportunities that open up. I’m not imposing it on anyone, I’ve just often said that it seems to me that they have more and more films... and very little progress. Undisputed 3, of course, fired, but so far he has fired alone. But he fired primarily because of Adkins, or rather the charisma of his character, the fighting scenes, and more or less the popularity of the franchise itself. A really decent original script, deep memorable dialogues, music, stylistic finds... in general, the elements of a good film - to be honest, they are not there. That is, the film is narrowly focused. Isaac and Scott are certainly talented people, but time is ticking. I expected much more from the first "Ninja", although I did not expect Adkins to show new facets.

I don’t know what the outcome will be, but Ninja 2 should be released into cinemas, not Universal Soldier.

And as a result, waiting a whole year (as was the case with Unisol), well, I don’t know. Now, if they release it in the summer, then I’m all for it.

I’m so glad, this will be a mega film, I’m one hundred percent sure. And in general, in my opinion, Scott Adkins is the best movie fighter in the world.

Ended on Saturday the 23rd, if I'm not mistaken.
