Bunga Lalang. Malaysia's answer to Ong Bak and Merantau?

Principal photography for Malaysian action film “Bunga Lalang” will begin next month. The film has already attracted the attention of a distribution company "Arclight Films", whose eastern branch will distribute the action film outside of Southeast Asia.

Director and screenwriter of the film - Dain Iskandar Said (Dain Iskandar Said), producer – Nandita Solomon (Nandita Solomon), executive producer – Tim Kwok (Tim Kwok) from Los Angeles company "Convergence Entertainment".

Thai inspired “Ong-Baka” and Indonesian “Merantau”, “Bunga Lalang” tells the story of three estranged brothers - an assassin, a businessman and a kickboxer - who are at odds with each other, unaware of their true origins.

The list of actors includes Faizal Hussain (Faizal Hussein) Hasnul Rahmat (Hasnul Rahmat) and Zahiril Adzim (Zahiril Adzim), as well as local martial arts stars.

The film crew includes a cameraman Djarin Pengpanich (who directed the film “Uncle Boonmee”, which received the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival) and an editor from Hong Kong named Bench (Macabre).

Saeed, who has a real record for the number of commercials, documentaries and other works shot, was previously a film director "Shaman" (Dukun), a feature film about black magic, which was financed by the famous Malaysian company “Astro-Shaw”. "Shaman" proved to be such a controversial film that it was never shown in theaters.

It's interesting to see at least the trailer. By the way, on YouTube there is a trailer for “Stunt Man Cambodia / movie Teaser by (tsud)” like Ong-Bak in Cambodian :) Thanks for the news.
