Compared to the past, 2021 was a much better year for action cinema - many blockbusters and action films that were postponed due to the pandemic reached cinemas (though not all of them anyway!), and projects that had previously been shown at film festivals also arrived.
There are still no many potentially interesting projects that were once announced, like the Vietnamese one "Luc Van Tien", Chinese "Invisible Tattoo", "Hidden Sword" и "Asura" or Singaporean "Diamond Dogs" and many others. And some of the action films we expect, like the Malaysian "In a cage", Chinese "Iron Monkey", Vietnamese "Countdown" (2017) and "Immortal" (2018), Japanese "Hydra" (2019) and "Tunguska butterfly" (2019) are quietly lying on foreign trackers and waiting for someone to translate them for a wide Russian-speaking audience. In the camp of sports dramas from “delayed” releases, attention is worth paying attention to the unfinished boxing project from South Africa "City of Fists" and an excellent MMA drama "Born a Champion" (in original "Mickey Kelly").
