Jet Li talks about charity

“Charity should be built on teams of professionals and support transparency in management,”

- said on Saturday Jet Li, film star kung Fu and founder of the foundation "One Foundation".

Lee noted that China's charity sector suffers from a lack of necessary laws.

“Lack of talent and lack of transparency are hampering the development of philanthropy in China,” - he said at the 8th conference "Netrepreneurs" in Zhejiang province in eastern China.

In 2004, I almost died during the tsunami. I don't know when else I'll have to face death, that's why I started the foundation.

"One Foundation" was founded in 2006 in mainland China. Initially, it operated as part of a special program “Chinese Red Cross Society” (RCSC), but the collaboration ended in January.

After termination of cooperation "One Foundation" became the first non-governmental foundation to work in conjunction with government organizations, thereby becoming a public fundraising organization.

Recently around “Chinese Red Cross Society” there was an uproar after a woman named Guo Meimei, which claims to be directly related to "RCSC", published photographs on her microblog demonstrating her luxurious lifestyle.

People in online communities have speculated that the money for her extravagant purchases may have come from "RCSC", and demanded that information relating to charities be disclosed.
