The Vietnamese Film Department has finally banned the screening of the action film. "Bụi Đời Chợ Lớn" (Cho Lon/Chinatown) with Johnny Nguyen starring. This means that the film will not be released not only in Vietnam, but also abroad. Here is the conclusion of the Council of Film Censors of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism:
In "Cho Lon" the law of cinema is violated, since it shows blatant scenes of gangster warfare, chaotic fights with knives, swords, machetes, while blood flows everywhere... without any intervention from the authorities, police, people or other social forces.
Not too long ago, producers sent over an edited version of "Cho Lon" that cut out a number of violent scenes and inserted some relevant scenes. But the situation as a whole has not been corrected, so it was decided not to issue a license to the film “Cho Lon”.
Because of this ruling, the film will go to gather dust on a shelf in the film archive. As a result, it turns out that 16 billion Vietnamese dong spent on filming went to waste.

Note: If the film somehow “resurfaces” outside of Vietnam without appropriate approval, this could mean the end of a career, at least for the director and producers, because in their homeland they will automatically be blacklisted.

Rumor has it that the creators did not speak very flatteringly about the censors on Facebook, and they found out about it.
As I understand it, it’s not all about the cruelty of the scenes, their authorities were very upset that their cops were shown as suckers who do nothing and don’t even pay attention to the violence.
Recently, directors have turned into maniacs. It's your own fault, why so much blood? Do they want to show so much cruelty? Make a film, as they say in American style, a normal film in accordance with R, which at least isn’t sickening to watch.
One-sided decision. It has a right to exist, but it is not smart. As is often done in history: let's not treat the hand, let's just cut it off. If the state is afraid that films with such content will discredit it, then the decision to ban the film is an even greater discredit to the government, since it shows Vietnam as an ossified police country. But the Vietnamese authorities, I am sure, do not care at all about this. The principle of the "Chinese firewall" in action.

The video is pretentious and ostentatious, but funny. Is it something with my memory, or is this piece not in “Merantau”?
EvilDollaR, are my comments too harsh on this topic??? Why is the text not being sent?

What the hell is this??? Much worse things happen every day! And then some kind of movie-meat grinder became problem No. 1 in the moral concept of the department... then ban porn too!... or is there much less “dirt” there?
There is a rental restriction... in the end, give the rating NC-17
I am extremely disappointed and upset!...

EVERY DAY THE WORLD IS HAPPENING WITH RUTHLESS CRUELTY AGAINST PEOPLE FROM SMALL TO GREAT....CORRUPTION, TERRORISM, BANDITISM, PROVOCATION, MASSACRE, SLAVERY, DRUGS....A PIECE OF THIS ALL WAS SHOWN TO THE PEOPLE AND THAT'S ALL!...ARE THE PEOPLE IN SHOCK? ??? an ordinary action movie! Well, ban porn then! Or do they think there is less “dirt” there???
