Sequel to "New Police Story", combat pensioners Rothrock, new film adaptation of Street Fighter

Hong Kong crime thriller "New Police Story" is considered a fairly important film not only for Jackie Chan, who by that time was developing his career in Hollywood, periodically returning to projects in his homeland that were not very successful in terms of return on investment. After the success of an action movie career Nicholas Tse, Daniela Wu, Charlene Choi и Andy She received a serious boost. He also relaunched Chan's career in China, who was brought back into the spotlight after the film became a box office hit in 2004.

After 19 years, a sequel was announced "New Police Story", which should be a direct continuation of the original. Representatives of the film company reported this Emperor Motion Pictures, who also introduced the director of the future action film - the actor became him Nicholas Tse (“Shaolin”, “Crossfire”), for whom this will be his directorial debut.

It is known that he will also play the main role. From the original film will appear again in the second part Jackie Chan (dilogy “Project “A”) and Charlene Choi (“Mission of the Twins.” “Goodbye N.L.O.”).

Nothing more is known about the project, but we dare to doubt that the project will take off, since it was previously reported that old Jackie is returning to the main role in direct continuation his franchises "Police Story" (1985-1995), and there was also an announcement of an action comedy "Agent Panda". However, either the projects were shelved or simply canceled because there was no more news about them.

It remains to add that we still count on Tse’s film, and not because Jackie Chan, who is already 69 years old, namely because of Nicholas, who at 42 is in excellent acting and physical shape.

"The Last Kumite" - an ambitious action movie in the style of the 90s

Our brother knows Cynthia Rothrock not only as a Chinese martial artist, actress and genre icon, but also as a relentless producer who makes sure to front independent projects every year, which she typically asks to raise funds for on crowdfunding platforms.

Not all of its projects are being implemented. For example, he showed himself well "Battle Baby" (2015) and by some miracle it was released on media "An Asian Ghost Story" (2016), but still the same "Battle Kid 2", "Girl Fight" or "The Amazing Shanghai Dragons" с Sammo Hoon did not raise the necessary funds and were simply cancelled.

Just recently there was news that Cynthia is producing and raising funds for a western called "Black Creek", bringing together aging action stars from the '80s and '90s. Here we go again - Rothrock announces a fan fund drive for a nostalgic hand-to-hand action film called "The Last Kumite" (The Last Kumite).

According to the data provided, the film should be directed by Ross W. Clarkson, who is best known as a cinematographer who worked in Hong Kong (Suspect, Headlines, Mister Perfect) and with the director Isaac Florentine on films such as "Indisputable 2" (2005) "Indisputable 3" (2010) and duology "Ninja" (2009, 2013). Ross also has directing experience - he directed an action film "Commander in Chief" (2019) starring Steven Seagal.

But something else is important here, namely the names that should be involved in the filming. As they say, fasten your seat belts: 61 year old Kurt McKinney (“No Retreat, No Surrender,” “Vengeance Vow”), 64-year-old Matthias Hughes (“Angel of Darkness”, “Knuckledusters”), 60-year-old Michelle Kissi (“Kickboxer”, “AWOL”), 63-year-old Abdel Kissi (“In Search of Adventure”, “The Secret of the Order”), 67-year-old Billy Blanks ("King of the Kickboxers", "Tough and Deadly"), 73-year-old Richard Norton (“City Hungter”, “Mr. Cool”), and herself Cynthia Rothrock (“Millionaire Express,” “Honor and Fury”) is already 66 years old for a second.

This list of honored retirees is supplemented by martial arts practitioners and stuntmen Emilien De Falco ("Undisputed 4"), Mathis Landwehr (“Special squad “Cobra”), Azhel Orelia (“Black Widow”) and well known to us Mike Moeller (“One Million K(l)iks”), who will not only stage local fight choreography, but also coordinate stuntmen.

No plot details "The Last Kumite" no, it only says that this film is a tribute to similar films that capture the essence of classic martial arts of the 80s and 90s. It’s also interesting that the composer was involved in the project Paul Herzog (“Bloodsport”, “Kickboxer”) and musician and singer Stan Bush, who sang title songs in films such as "Bloody sport" (1988) "Kickboxer" (1989) "Transformers. Movie" (1986) and many others.

As always, you can help the lovely Cynthia with her project by donating a donation to the company at Kickstarter, passing through link. Well, we can only wait and hope that the project will still work out.

Sequel to "New Police Story", combat pensioners Rothrock, new film adaptation of Street Fighter

Let's finish today's news selection with the sudden news that the cult computer fighting game Street Fighter filmed again! The company recently acquired the rights to create an action movie Legendary Pictures.

"Street Fighter" on par with "Mortal Kombat" is the most filmed fantasy game, but never before have projects based on the franchise become at least somewhat successful with viewers and critics. The first attempt to transfer the game to the screen was made in 1994 - then the main star of the action movie was Jean-Claude Van Damme, but the film failed miserably at the box office. The next time they returned to the franchise was in the 2000s with the project "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" (2009) with Kristin Crook in the central role, but this film also barely paid for its production. As is the case with Mortal Kombat, fighting game series "Street Fighter" tried to adapt it to the format of a web series - as a result, two projects appeared: "Assassin's Fist" и "Resurrection"which the audience liked. At the same time, they launched development of a full-fledged series for streaming platforms, which was to be managed by a British martial artist and action director Joey Ansah, but even then it was not possible to push the project through to immediate implementation.

And now, it seems, the commercial success of the remake "Mortal Kombat" pushed studio bosses for another restart Street Fighter. The FFI editors are confident that many of you have already compiled a worthy list of actors and actresses who should play in this film adaptation. In any case, while there is no official news about the cast and director, you can safely offer your options.
