Mortal Kombat sequel, Adkins and Grillo will work together, Halle Berry in John Wick spin-off

It is absolutely known that the restart of the legendary "Mortal Kombat" divided the fans into two camps: some really didn’t like the film, while others really liked it. For a long time there was no news about a sequel, although "Mortal Kombat" 2021 can be called a successful film from a commercial point of view, because the action film for a long time held the first line of the hit list of the HBO streaming platform, where the film was released simultaneously with the theatrical release.

And so they waited - the company New line cinema officially announced the start of development of the sequel. The main change affecting the second part is the change of the main screenwriter. Greg Russo replaced Jeremy Slater, which has as many outright failures (restart "Fantastic Four", "Death note" for Netflix), and quite good thrillers, like "The Lazarus Effect" (2013) and "Pet" (2016). Slater is also one of the main writers of comic series "Umbrella Academy" и "Moon Knight".

It is still unknown who will be at the director’s helm. The sequel will probably be given to a more seasoned and professional director.

It is already known that they will return to their roles Lewis Tan, Joe Taslim, Ludi Lin, Tadanobu Asano, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Chin Han. It's curious that Hiroyuki Sanada is not on the list, which means that either Scorpio will be taken out of the “game” for some time or another actor will play him. Also not on the list Josh Lawson, who played Kano.

Still no one can answer the main question - who will get the role of Hollywood star Johnny Cage? We know that many people want to see him portrayed on screen. Scott Adkins, but let’s speculate in the comments, who else would look good in this role?

Having just finished an action movie starring British martial artist and actor Scott Adkins "Section Eight", film director Christian Sesma (“Avenger Chronicles”, “The Dark Past”, “Hit the Jackpot”) again dragged the Briton into his own project.

Sesma's new film is called "The Lights Go Out" (Lights Out) and will tell the story of a former soldier who is forced to become an underground fighter due to a story with corrupt police officers and assassins who want to track down and kill the main character.

The protagonist of the action film was played by a Hollywood actor well known to fans of the action genre. Frank Grillo (“War of the Wolves 2”, “Trigger Day”, “The Good, the Bad, the Cop”), and, in addition Scott Adkins (Undisputed franchise), the film featured: Dermont Mulroney ("My Best Friend's Wedding") Paul Sloan (“Avenger Chronicles”) and a master of waving her arms and legs Juju Chan (TV series "Assassins of Wu").

Interestingly, the Juju Chan has already crossed paths with Adkins in projects "Wild Dog" (2017), and with Grillo - in "Jiu-Jitsu: Battle for Earth" (2020)

It remains to add that a veteran of the profession will be responsible for the local hand-to-hand action Luc Lafontaine, who worked with Adkins on the duology "Collectors" (2018, 2020), "Wild Dog" (2017) "Triple Threat" (2018) "Accident" (2018) and "British psychopath" (2019)

All we have to do is wait for news.

Mortal Kombat sequel, Adkins and Grillo will work together, Halle Berry in John Wick spin-off

It seems that the 55-year-old Hollywood star Halle Berry (“Gothika”, “Catwoman”) decided to seriously connect her career with the action genre, and to be more precise, with the growing franchise "John Wick".

After his sports drama "Strikes", Berry starred in a disaster movie "Moon Fall" director Roland Emmyrich and at the premiere, the actress was asked what she thought about the fact that her heroine Sofia was not in the fourth film about the adventures of John Wick. To which Holly slyly replied that at that time Sofia was dealing with personal affairs and her own assassin.

Rumor has it that Chad Stahelski I was extremely glad to read these lines in the tabloid. This means that a spin-off about Sofia is not officially being developed, but this could well happen if the fourth part is well received by viewers "John Wick", and its spin-offs "Continental" и "Ballerina".

Would you like a separate film about Sofia with Halle Berry starring?
