Happy birthday Sammo Hungg!

January 7th - Bright Christmas Holiday. And for fans of martial arts, this date also appears as the birthday of the legend of Hong Kong cinema - Sammo Hungga! This year he turns 60 years old! Agree, looking at this man, full of hard work and creative energy, it’s hard to believe. He still hasn’t lost his amazing athletic form, which is easy to judge from the action films with his participation.

Sammo was born on January 7, 1952 in Hong Kong, but his homeland is in mainland China - the city Ningbo, province Zhejiang. At an early age, he began to learn the basics of martial art from his grandmother - kung Fu actresses Chin Ji An. The boy skipped school, so by general advice (and at the request of the boy himself) he was sent to the Academy of Peking Opera Yu Jim Yuen (alma mater of people like Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Corey Yuen, Yuen Wa and others), where he studied hard for 7 years. While still studying at the Academy, he starred in his first film “Lessons of Love”, where he played a boy from a single-parent family. As he grew older, he already worked as an assistant to fight directors, and later, after leaving the Academy, he became a director himself. While still a young man, he received recognition in this path among his “colleagues,” and in 1971 he received his first award for the film in the corresponding category. "Deadly Sword".

At one time he collaborated with Bruce Lee, in film “Enter the Dragon” they fight in the opening match.

In 1977 he made his first film "The Monk with the Iron Fist". This was the first film where comedic situations were intertwined with brutal battles and a serious plot.

In the 80s he worked in a studio "Golden Harvest", where he created many amazing action films, such as "Eastern Condors", "Food truck", a series of films about “Happy Stars”. Also in 1983 he created a tandem "Three brothers" (Sammo, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao), and they collaborated together for 5 years. All fans, of course, are waiting for them to film together, but according to rumors Sammo is filming a 50-episode series about the Seven Lucky Men, so there is, there is hope!

In the 90s, his career was in decline, so in search of work he moved to America, where success awaited him in the form of the series “Chinese Policeman”. Sammo immediately became a star in America. However, a year before the start of filming the series, he made films "Mr. Cool" с Jackie Chan и “Once Upon a Time in China VI” с Jet Li.

In the 2000s, he was in for a rise. Movies “Dragon Squad” и "SPL" clearly showed that it was too early for him to retire!

In my personal life Sammo everything is great. In 1974 he married a Korean woman Jo Yoon Ok, who bore him three sons and a daughter. However, disagreements and quarrels forced them to divorce in 1994. Moreover, Sammo already on set "Eastern Condors" fell in love with an actress and model Joyce Godenzi, and a year after the divorce proposed her hand and heart.

We wish Sammo unwavering health, creative success and future grandchildren! ;)

All the best Sammo from Martial Arts Information and Sammo Hungg's VKontakte fan groups!

This is what Sammo received from his sons and daughter-in-law:

Sammo is a Chinese ranger. =) [ran to hide under the table from Chuck's all-seeing eye]

Yes, they are the ones. Photo from approximately 2 years ago.

Even if Yuen Bun is, they are very similar (above Kwai).

Yuen Wa is mustachioed, Corey is not mustachioed)))

I just remember seeing Corey Yuen Wa in the credits of the films, it was written. Weird

I also saw this in one of the reviews (Corey Yuen Wah), but, as it turned out, there was a typo, I double-checked, it was about Corey Yuen Kwai.

By the way, here are both of them (far left)

      7 little lucky ones
