Review of the short action film All-in

"All-in" is an atmospheric short film whose concept is simple: a Knight goes to the Castle to save a Lady from an evil Overlord. In this case, the events take place in our time, and the knight is a man named Cade (Williams). He is an MMA fighter who was approached by a certain M with an offer to “leak” the fight, promising him one of his “call girls,” a beauty named Aria (Riina). But M did not take into account that the couple might fall in love with each other, and that Cade would then decide not to lose in the fight. The film begins with Cade bringing a bag full of money in exchange for Aria, but M is no fool, and, realizing that Cade is just bluffing, decides to give him one last game, in which everything is at stake...

There's no denying that All-in is a damn good short film. The grain adds a realistic style, and the musical score is like an ode to the soundtracks of the late 80s and early 90s. For such a short length, the storytelling is on point, and the fight choreography was done well by Tyler Williams and Louis Paquette. The fights are fast-paced and somewhat reminiscent of 80s Hong Kong cinema in its heyday. The camera work gives a complete picture of the battles, and the editing gives them the necessary smoothness, without unnecessary cuts. The stunt guys from Riot Act did a great job showing off a whole series of falls, breaking tables and stuff like that.

Tyler Williams and Eye of the Storm Pictures (EOS) make some really high-quality action shorts that I personally believe are feature-ready. Tyler in particular has charisma and looks that work well on screen. Louis Paquette also did a great job playing the role of a quirky international villain; the episodes and fights with his participation captivate the viewer. And Charlie Riina played well in the role of a kind of “lady in sadness” who ultimately takes matters into her own hands.

At this year's Action On Film Festival, the short film "All-in" won Best Fight Choreography and Tyler Williams won Best Actor this year, both well-deserved awards. There are several other featurettes on the Blu-Ray of this film: "Thirst", "Heroic Bloodshed" and "The Breakout", all of which are interesting action films of short duration with some excellently choreographed fights. They immediately show how good Tyler Williams and his team are.

If you love good choreography, then "All-in" is just what you need to check out!
