Review of the film "Beauty Inspector" (1992) by NapoleonDinamitte

1992 is the best year in the history of combat cinema. These twelve months showed the world record-breaking, in my opinion, indicators for the quality of the genre. It was not the States who took Prima. Having firmly secured the 91st position, Uncle Sam loosened his belt and lost the lead to Hong Kong, not for the first time, but for the last time. The worldwide merit of the year is five masterpiece action films, five films that are guides to creating entertaining films.

First of all, something like “our everything” comes to mind - "American Fight", a landscape from the era of racketeering and slicked-back hair. In the same time "Gladiator" (not to be confused with Ridley Scott's pop music) noted that the Pepsi-pager-MTV glitz before our eyes did not rid America of unearned income. What about Hong Kong? And Hong Kong defended its title as the capital of contrasts. On the one hand, a bloody police saga "Hard Boiled". On the other hand, vaudeville "City Hungter", which managed to both parody the genre and take it to a new level.

The fifth place in my top for the time being was occupied by the original action movie Ringo Lama "Full contact". Oddly enough, we are faced with a situation where a piece product is being replaced by a conveyor product. “Full Contact” is a stylish film, it’s hard to confuse it with some shoot-and-punch contemporary; you watch it and understand that the director was doing it for fun – it couldn’t have been otherwise. Of course, this is not a typical film for the period when British subjects, in anticipation of big red dots, hastily made radically commercial films. You produce for a penny, sell for two or three. Never ambitious? But without risks. Vulgar? It’s bad manners to raise such a question, we’re saving up for emigration as best we can...

Moon Lee portrays a prostitute while undercover

Now the fifth line is assigned to "Beauty Inspector". Here it is, a purebred Hong Kong action movie of the early 90s, category B in Asian style. The screenwriter clearly received a fee only for the plot and characters, but the narrative and dialogue, apparently, were composed by the actors during filming. Is it important? Perhaps, yes, a minus is a minus, but it dissolves in the veil of pluses.

Firstly, the operator refrained from going to the buffet without turning off the camera: the viewer can clearly see what is happening on the screen.

Secondly, the editor cut the film thoughtfully, without sadism, and therefore there were long takes.

Thirdly, what an amazing cast in the film. Charming Moon Lee, Yukari Oshima, as always, invincible, naked Sophie Crawford in the shower, gloomy face Billy Chow - and they will all fight. Of course, in the spirit of high-speed kicking overdose. Melvin Vaughn и Tai Bo We didn’t take part in the Mahacha festival, but I can’t help but mention such respected people, yes, they are also present here. The action is amazing in its variety: they played hand-to-hand combat, had some great shooting, fenced, and even had a chase.

Yes... The conversation, as you understand, was not so much about this film specifically, but about the glorious movie dragon, which we will soon lose irretrievably. This is not only my opinion, but also Sammo Hunga: "I'm afraid Hong Kong cinema is hopeless in its next generation. My heart hurts because of this, but there is nothing I can do."

On the other hand, would we value this great cinema of the 80s and 90s so highly if its technology continued to flourish to this day? No, it is precisely its fabulous distance from our days that makes thousands of gourmets around the world from time to time review glorious action films like "Beautiful Inspectors".
