Sammo Hungg is a legend, there is simply nothing to argue about! It’s just that something always changes in our lives and now cables have become popular, or rather, tricks that cannot be done without cables (or are very dangerous) have become popular. In general, if you have any doubts, look at the films of the early 80s and early 90s - from the point of view of production and performance, they are simply masterpieces!

PS I dream of shaking hands with this legendary man!

I subscribe to every word!!! And in general, all the films that Sammo created in the 80s for the residents of Hong Kong are the same unforgettable classics as “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession” and many others for us. :)

Yaninka (Gija) threw me into a triple facepalm while training in the forest (Kick). Well, you can’t show this in public after “Chocolate” and “Phoenix”.

The whole “Kik” sent me into a triple facepalm :-D
There were some cool moments though.
What exactly did you not like about the training? or didn’t like the battles - tests?

Thank you. But I still don’t understand whether this is part zero or part one. Based on the release date, I judge that it is zero, but why the number 1 is in the trailer is unclear.
Yes, and about Sammo. Dave, how can you deny that Sammo is a legend? He worked hard all his life creating those films that we watch with great pleasure! And the fact that he is now using cables really cannot lower him in the eyes of true connoisseurs of Chinese kung fu cinema. And besides, now he gets projects where cables are needed. Just look at the Tai Tzu trailer. Although not everything is visible and understandable, the tracks are used very wisely, and besides, the genre obliges us - after all, this is wuxia. Steampunk wuxia. In our language - steammunk fantasy.

You said that he gets projects where ropes are needed, but let him choose projects where ropes are not needed, so that he can show real martial arts, and not all these flights in the air, I looked at the Tai Tzu trailer, beautifully shot, but not my genre ,I don’t like flying warriors.

EvilDollaR: Dave, please insert your comments after the quote.

Who compared Sammo to Tony Ja???
Someone's tongue turned, so to speak. Hmmm...yes...I’m not surprised now that the TV series RUSH HOUR is cool movies! (according to some youth audiences)!
And when they asked one Japanese champion and actress, “Do you know who Yukari Oshima is,” to which she replied that she doesn’t know her, but she adores Jinja Yanin. What kind of cultural heritage and taste can we even talk about!

It was me who compared Sammo with Jaa, it was my tongue that turned, so to speak, if you don’t like what I’m writing then close your eyes and don’t look, if they both star in films with BI, then they can be compared, and that’s normal.

Here's another one I dug up. But not from Tai Tzu, but from Naked Soldier. I recommend you watch this excerpt. Doesn't remind you of any cartoon? :D

YES, another Tai Tzu trailer for the Toronto Film Festival (almost in the image and likeness of the very first trailer, plus different music):

This is what I think: the trilogy is simply called Tai Tzu. The first part is zero (backstory), the second is one and the name fits both literally (from 0 to 1) and figuratively (from rags to riches). But I find it difficult to answer how they can rename the third (Summit).

I also had something similar running through my mind. But now the main thing is that Steven Fung and Sammo don’t let us down (although as for Sammo, I’m sure that he did all his work one hundred percent, but the director from Fung is not bad, but still not great). The cast seems to be excellent - Angelababy, Big Tony, Shu Qi, we'll also look at the newcomer in the title role, and we'll also admire Yuen Biao in a cameo. By the way, rumors are spreading on the Internet that Sammo may well take part in the third film. :) I really hope for it.
And I’m also interested in what kind of strange horn is growing out of GG’s head?

Personally, I also consider Sammo a legend, at least for his early films (with or without Jackie), with stunts and fights where there were no cables. Regarding Tony Jaa:
    1) I have never seen him use cables. this is +
    2) I don’t argue that in one of the scenes of Ongbak 2 there is a doubt that it was Tony who participated in that episode, but I’m not 100% sure that there was a stunt double. I didn’t notice it in that yam gung and the first ongbak, and to be honest, I didn’t even look at the 3rd ongbak properly (IMHO disappointment).

Mr. Alex, correct The Hero Rises to From Zero to Hero, there is a slight confusion. Most likely to whale. At the box office, the film will be number 1, and in the rest - number 0. And in general, I’m being threatened with copyright infringement, so I’m deleting the video, and you’ll replace it with a similar one -

Cables are a feature and TRADITION of Chinese action films (especially wuxia). Some people like it, some don’t - it’s a matter of taste (the Chinese like it :)). And Samo in many films is shot without the use of cables (especially early films). He is truly a MASTER, both as a fighter-actor and as a fight choreographer. Absolutely (in my unenlightened opinion, of course :)) The very LEGENDARY personality of the combat cinematographer! :)

And to hell with them. I don't remember Jaa ever stating that he doesn't use stunt doubles.

That's it, I remembered about Ninja, I knew about The Expendables 2.

Oh Tony Jaa this is for you. You said that he had doubles/cables in places.

:) Doubles. There was nothing about cables.
Doubles: I even suggested you look at them once. Available in OB2 and OB3. Like in TYUG.

      Sorry, I forgot, however.

In "Ninja" - he jumped over a car. Scott talked about this in an interview. It wasn’t him who fell out of their windows, etc. In "The Expendables 2" he also had a stunt double; Adkins himself has a photo in the comments.

Sammo is a BI legend, he has earned it through years of hard work. The use of cables does not detract from his talent. Bruce was dubbed by Biao, so what? Isn't he a legend now?

The same Scott jumped on cables/ropes and used doubles. He admitted this himself (“Undisputed” does not apply), posted photos and was not ashamed, for which I respect him.

Tony Jaa is a different story.

San, what's wrong with Tony Jaa?
And where did Scott use the cables?

I would not call Sammo Hungg legendary, in many films where he works as a fight director, ropes are used, that is, there is little real martial art, and this is a big minus and a sufficient reason not to call him a legend, here Tony Jaa and Scott Adkins do everything without ropes, and they are better than him.
