Craig Reid. Biography and filmography

Reid's acting and stunt career began in 1979 in Chinese kung fu films and Taiwanese television series. He co-starred with Chia Lin (Jadee Lee) in Flying Tigers and the Kung Fu Kids, and with Barry Chan in two very popular Taiwanese television soap operas, Wei Zhen Nan Tai and “Tang San Wu Jie.”

After six weeks of working and studying the theory of fight choreography with Jackie Chan, Tsui Hark and Ching Soo-tang in 1992 in Hong Kong, Reid began lecturing on fight choreography at the Yale Drama School, then moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and worked there as a choreographer. on Sam Raimi's show Spy Game on ABC and spent two years filming fights with Ewan Tuck and Ewan Boon for the CBS television series Chinese Trooper.

Reid also wrote the docudrama Red Pants: The Life of a Hong Kong Stuntman and did behind-the-scenes rewrites for the film End Game for director Andy Cheng and actors James Woods, Cuba Gooding Jr., Angie Harmon and Burt Reynolds.

In addition to reporting for Reuters over the past six years, Reid became a freelance writer in 1992, and his more than 1000 published articles have appeared in Black Belt, Kung-fu/Qi Gong, Hollywood Reporter, Emmy, Film Quarterly, Fangoria, Cinefantastique and National Wildlife.

An award-winning university teacher and recipient of the Humanitarian of the Year Award, Reid has received worldwide recognition in the world of martial arts and action cinema. He is the author of the book series “A Guide to the Ultimate Martial Arts Movie” for Black Belt magazine.

Interesting Facts

In one month spent in Taiwan, he managed to dub 60 Chinese kung fu films into English.

He has a collection of over 3500 martial arts films (most of which were recorded on Betamax tape).

Reid is one of the oldest survivors of a fatal hereditary cancer and proved himself to be in good health by walking three thousand miles across America in 1986.
