Will the revived Cannon “revive” forgotten projects?

Film studio reorganized two years ago Cannon Films Ltd. already presented for the judgment of interested people, a grid of films that the studio is going to shoot in the next three years. Today, filmmakers Cannon Films are actively working on two projects: “American Ninja: Apprentice"and "Return of Delta Force". Both projects are at the pre-production stage.

However, rumors appeared online that the head of the studio Richard Albiston, being a self-proclaimed protégé of the CEO of a “classic” studio Cannon Menahen Golan, is set to release some of the projects that never saw the light of day due to the studio's closure and Golan's death. The French actor, as they say, “stirred the waters” Kay Morden, who sent messages to various producers that he was working closely with Menahen Golan’s family and had access to his unproduced scripts, of which there were as many as twelve, and for each of which there were permissions. Among the scripts is the project “Super ninja", and Mordden offers to make this turnkey film with himself in the role of the main villain for only 1,5-3 million dollars. Rumor has it that Albiston is seriously considering this proposal.

Among Golan’s “lost” projects there are many interesting things for fans of hand-to-hand action films. For example, the film "The last battle"(Final Combat), which was directed by Menahan himself and he also wrote the script. The film was shot back in 2003 in Thailand, but the film was shelved due to debts to the film crew and now it needs to be bought back from the Bangkok film laboratory.

The main character of the film was played by an Australian Wing Chun master. Tony White (“Medallion”, “Birth of a Warrior”). His character, depressed due to the loss of loved ones, goes to a martial arts tournament that could cost him his life.

The film also stars: kickboxing legend Peter Cunningham, Gary Stretch (“Alexander”) and Richard Lynch (“Invasion of the USA”). The British choreographed the fights and action scenes. Matt Rutledge (“Medallion”, “Zombie House”).

According to unconfirmed reports, Richard Albiston is going to release the film after re-shooting and re-editing some scenes. Also, they say that “The Last Stand” will be shown at the Cannes film market in May this year. However, it is unknown whether we are talking about the old or new version of the film.
