"The Last Airbenders" will become a trilogy

Already a cult fantasy epic "Lords of the Elements"(The Storm Riders) will get a threequel. The news was spread by the AFS network. The director of the project is none other than the director of the sensational "Ip Man» Wilson Yip .

Let us recall that in 1998 the film Andrew Lau «Lords of the Elements"became a box office hit, "infecting" Chinese cinema with a real boom in expensive science fiction films in comic book style. Young actors starred in the leading roles of the epic Ekin Cheng и Aaron Kwok, and also legendary Sonny Chiba. “The Lords of the Elements” was the undisputed leader at the box office in 1998, displacing such competitors as “Who am I?"with Jackie Chan and "Replacement killers"with Chow Yun-Fat. Even today, the film adaptation of Ma Wing-sing's comicsStorm Riders"looks pretty good.

In 2009, the Pang brothers (Eye, Bangkok Dangerous) filmed a sequel with the same actors in the lead roles, adding such big names to the cast as Nicholas Tse и Simon Yam. However, the second part did not gain much success at the box office or interest among viewers.

It is not known whether Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok will star in the leading roles, but it is already known that the ensemble cast includes Louis Koo (“Stars of Destiny 2”). He will likely play the main villain in the new story. Either way, with Wilson Yip at the helm, the third Last Airbender could be interesting.

Without Cheng and Kwok, it won't be the same "Masters". On the other hand, both of them are old enough to play young Cloud and Wind. Maybe a change in the main cast is needed.
