American wrestler and actor Tommy Lister dies

American actor and former wrestler died yesterday at the age of 63. Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr. known to viewers from films "Runaway Train" (1985), "Fifth Element" (1997), "Friday" (1995), "Dracula 3000" (2004) and many episodic, but bright and characteristic roles.

Tommy was born on June 24, 1958 in Compton, California and, despite being blind in one eye, excelled in sports, breaking the school record six times and winning the 1982 NCAA Division II Shot Put National Championship. In addition, he was involved in athletics and American football. Impressive physical characteristics (196 cm) and natural charisma later helped Lister in wrestling, where he performed in the WWF and WCW federations.

In films, Lister most often played episodes in which negative characters predominated, although he was also the president of the Earth Union. But mostly it was a classic taciturn screen thug who took the baton from Ken Foree, and stood in the same line with Tony Todd и Michael Clarke Duncan with whom they crossed paths in "Friday." Action movie fans may notice Tommy next to Jean-Claude Van Damme и Dolph Lundgren в "Universal Soldier" (1992).

Gigantic growth, the face of a stone idol and a seemingly unfocused but piercing gaze - these are the main weapons Tony Lister to the cinema. At the same time, his friends spoke of him as a gentle, kind and open person.

The details of his death are still being clarified, but it is known that shortly before the tragic day, the actor showed symptoms of COVID-19.

Rest in peace, Tony.
