For a long time there was no information on the site about sports dramas, which we also love. It’s nice that among the three films in this genre that we will talk about, two are domestically produced.

We'll start with a British boxing film called "Jaw" (Jawbone) directing Thomas K. Napper, who previously worked mainly with short films.

Synopsis: Former youth boxing champion Jimmy McCabe is now a grown man whose life is clearly not going well. And when, it would seem, Jimmy must finally break down under the adversity of fate, the latter leads him to the boxing club where he once trained. He returned to his “home” and his “family”: elderly venue owner Bill, cornerman Eddie and promoter Joe. Gradually returning to training after a long break, Jimmy decides to try his hand at a boxing tournament in order to regain his place in life.

The main role in this boxing drama was played by Johnny Harris (“Rock and Roller”), he is also the screenwriter of the film. Established British actors are helping Harris: Ian McShane ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides") Ray Winstone ("Robin Hood of Sherwood") Michael Smiley (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) and others.

The film opens in UK box office 12 May 2017 years. We invite you to watch the trailer.

The next sports drama, this time about mixed martial arts and comes from Russia. We're talking about a movie called "Fighting Will", which is an independent long-term director Sergei Silverton.

That same evening, Victor is walking down the street and suddenly observes in a dark alley an attempted rape by hooligans of a young girl, Ksenia. Victor stands up for the girl and is seriously stabbed in a fight.

Starring in the film: Danil Prytkov (“The geographer drank away his globe”), Andrey Ali, Artem Patarzhinsky, Olga Arzamastseva и Daria Petrova.

Nothing more is known about the project. But the film company "Hermes Film" plans to release the film in 2017. The filmmakers have not yet announced an exact release date.

The next film comes from the city of Berdsk called "Village". This time Greco-Roman wrestling is used for sports drama.

The film “The Village” is about a former athlete and resident of a provincial town, Stanislav, who decides to open a local children’s Greco-Roman wrestling school with the goal of competing in a tournament in which Stanislav’s “sworn friend”, Marat, also takes part. When exactly did Marat “break” the main character as an athlete?

However, you can learn much more about the film and how it was prepared and filmed from interview with Pavel Mednikov, one of the creators of “The Village”.

At home, in Berdsk, the premiere screenings of the film will take place February 25 and 26, 2017. Nothing is yet known about how the film will be distributed further, or whether it will be distributed at all.

You can evaluate the domestic project by watching the “Village” trailer.
