Trailers for independent films The Dark Soul, Made in Chinatown and Challenge of the Five Gauntlets

Bay Logan is a respected journalist, scholar of Chinese cinema, screenwriter and producer. Over the years of his career, Bey managed to work with such action movie stars as Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun-Fat, Donnie Yen, Robin Shu, Ekin Chen and others. However, recently Logan has focused on independent niche films, which often do not go beyond thematic festivals (hello, "Accelerator"!). However, some films based on Logan’s scripts reach mass audiences, for example "Medallion" with Jackie Chan, "Exhaustion" with Steven Seagal, "Border" with Sediina Bolde and "Lady Bloodbattle" with Amy Johnston.

However, a new film based on Bey's script was even released on DVD. It's a mystical thriller "A dark soul" (The Dark Soul), which was directed by Logan himself.

The film is about a not-so-successful American detective who dreams about being killed. Moreover, he discovers that he has martial arts skills, which he definitely did not know how to do before. Following the drawing of a mysterious Chinese man, the main character goes to Hong Kong to find the person who calls him in this way.

The main role in the thriller Logan was played by the five-time champion kickboxing title holder Kevin Brewerton, who previously appeared in supporting roles as henchmen of the main villain in films Don Wilson, Lorena Avedona и Lorenzo Lamasa, having played a prominent role only in a horror film "Echoes" (2014)

Another familiar name in the acting ensemble is Bianca Stam (“Chasing Dragons”) and the legend of Chinese combat cinema Lo Meng ("Hard Boiled", "Great Master"). The film was shown on Chinese TV back in 2018. The creators promise a DVD release in 2019, but the exact date is still unknown.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming action-comedy has appeared online "Made in Chinatown" (Made in Chinatown) about the filming of which we already wrote.

Interestingly, one of the directors of the film was previously listed as Art Camacho (“Neither Alive nor Dead 2”), but at the moment the director is listed as a martial artist, cult action director and actor James Lew (“Big Trouble in Little China”, “Battle Robots”). James has extensive experience in his career as a hand-to-hand action director, although he himself played mostly minor roles as villains and henchmen, whom the main characters of action films of the 80s and 90s met in a mortal duel. Today, Liu is a respected director who works on both major projects and the independent film industry. This is Liu's second directorial project, the first being a DTV action comedy. "18 fingers of death" (2006)

The second director is still listed as a member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Association - Robert Samuels (“Red Wolf”, “7 Mummies”, “To hell with it!”). Samuels has been working exclusively in the independent film industry in recent years, producing short films and web series. His directorial work before "Chinatown" is a hand-to-hand horror film "June" was filmed a long time ago, but has not yet reached the mass audience.

The plot of the film will follow an American boy with Chinese roots named Vinny, who dreams of joining the circles of the real Italian mafia in New York. However, everything is not so simple, and Vinny will have to reconsider his plans when the wrath of the Italian mafia is directed at his neighbors in Chinatown, who, in turn, are directly related to the triad. Unlucky Vinny is at the very epicenter of a brewing conflict.

Old, but, as they say, not useless James Lew и Robert Samuels played small roles in the film, and the stuntman and actor became the face of the comedy Jay Kwon ("Zoozombie"). The rest of the caste includes: Tony Darrow (TV series "The Sopranos"), Vincent Pastore ("Carlito's Way") Tony Ray Rossi ("Donnie Brasco") Raymond J. Berry (“Hammer”), as well as legends of Chinese combat cinema Lo Meng ("Five Poisonous") and Chiu Chi-Ling (“Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow”) and young actors Chang Shuya ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny"), Celia Au ("Vinyl"), Stephen Chan ("Elusive") and Peter Ngai.

The film will premiere at the Iron Dragon TV Action Fest, Action On Film Festival and New York Asian Film Festival. The release date on media is still unknown. Judging by the trailer, it's unlikely that this will happen. cinema for children.
