About the zombie action sequel "Confrontation" (2000), which introduced the world to talented directors Ryuheya Kitamura and former street fighter Taka Sakaguchi, they said literally immediately after the success of the film, which is now considered a cult classic in Japanese genre cinema. Every now and then they returned to the idea of a second part, but never took production seriously. Kitamura-san even began writing the script for the sequel, thereby trying to “lure” Sakaguchi out of his "cinema-retirement".
However, out of the blue, it became known about the 47-minute film, which is a direct continuation of the original. The project belongs to the actor and director Hideo Sakaki, who played the main villain in "Confrontation". Sakaki called his film a tribute to the iconic action film and a "gift" for its 20th anniversary.
The film was named "Musou's Cruelty: War in the Subconscious" (Violence Musou: Subliminal War), however, there is no exact synopsis yet.
Notably, Hideo brought back several original cast members: Taka Sakaguchi ("Rebirth") Candy Matsuda ("Zebra"), Misaku Chieko ("Suicide Club") Hoshimi Asai ("The Last Bronx") Shoichiro Masumoto (The Crows franchise) and Minoru Matsumoto (TV series "Predator").
The action is staged by Sakaguchi himself and his team "Zero".
It is not yet known when and on what platform the film will be released, but we are waiting for it - definitely!
Another film from Japan, but you're talking about it already know, as it became one of those whose premiere was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It's a fantasy action movie. "The sun doesn't move" director Eiichiro Hasumi (TV series “Predator”, dilogy “Assassination Classroom”).
Let us remind you that the plot is based on a series of books by Kazuhiko Takano, the main characters of which are two industrial spies working for South Korea. But while researching an experiment involving solar energy, the heroes stumble upon a worldwide conspiracy and must now stop it.
The following took part in the film: Tatsuya Fujiwara (dulogy “Battle Royale”), Ryoma Takeuchi (Kamen Rider Drive franchise) Han Hyo-ju ("Inran: Wolf Brigade"), Byeon Yo-han ("The Man Who Cried") Sarah Minami ("Sleeping Ivane"), Hayato Ichihara (“Blade of the Immortal”) and others.
The film was supposed to be released in wide release in May last year. Now the premiere is scheduled for 5 March 2021 year. On this occasion, a new trailer for the action film has appeared online.
The next film in our selection today is Chinese, but it will also take place in Japan.
About comedy "Chinatown Detective 3" director Chen Sicheng we already somehow mentioned due to the fact that one of the main characters is played by a Thai action movie star Tony JAA.
Synopsis: This time, home-grown Sherlock Holmes and his not-so-smart relative go to Tokyo, where they are invited by a Japanese detective colleague, and where local flavor awaits: bloodthirsty yakuza, seductive geisha, harsh sumo wrestlers and other delights of a tourist in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The main character is still played Wang Baoqiang (“In the name of honor”), and in addition to his company Tony JAA ("Triple Threat") are Liu Haoran ("Legend of the Demon Cat") Satoshi Tsumabuki ("Tokyo Drift") Zhang Zifeng ("Earthquake"), Shota Sometani (“First Love”) and a classic of Japanese cinema Tadanobu Asano (“47 samurai”) and others.
"Chinatown Detective 3" should go for rental 12 February 2021 year.
