The restless 67-year-old aikido master, actor, producer and director Steven Seagal continues to “delight” its fans with new films. Old Niko is not as prolific as, for example, in 2015-2016, but still appears from time to time in projects of varying levels of quality. For example, direct-to-video series "Commander in Chief" has some chances of at least some interest from the viewer. But Seagal's new film called "Outlaw" (Beyond the Law).
The film was directed by James Cullen Brassack, dealing primarily with niche horror films ("The House of My Nightmares", "Curse of Blood"). He also produced the film and wrote the script for it.
The film tells the story of a former police detective who has long left law enforcement and lives in attempts to improve his relationship with his son. However, everything changes when, during a showdown between criminal gangs, the son of the main character dies. Now the former detective returns to the city streets that he once knew so well. He is armed and aims to take revenge not only on the bandits, but also on the entire corrupt system for the death of his son.
Besides Steven Seagal (“Above the Law”, “Marked for Death”), the film featured a famous rapper DMX ("Romeo Must Die", "From Cradle to Grave"), Johnny Mesner ("Kill 'Em All", "Hostage"), Patrick Kilpatrick ("Death Warrant", "Best of the Best 2"), Zach Ward ("Transformers") and others.

The film is about a Tongan entrepreneur named Fritz, who, after a not very successful deal, returns to his home in order to remember the good days. When negotiations and diplomacy fail, Fritz is forced to accept his father's inheritance in order to regain the title.
