Shinya Tsukamoto is a well-known and respected Japanese director who is considered one of the founders of the movement that some critics call “strange Japanese cinema.” It is he who is the author and director of such sensational films in his time as the trilogy "Tetsuo, Iron Man" (1989/1992/2009, XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX, XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX), "The Wonderful Analog World" (1987) "Bullet Ballet" (1998) "Twins" (1999) and others.

This year, Tsukamoto-san is going to please fans of samurai films with a project under the simple name "Murder" (Kill). As usual, Xingya wrote and produced the script for his film himself.

The film takes place in the 19th century during the Edo period. The brave ronin Sawamura decides on unprecedented arrogance - to overthrow the shogunate. To do this, he recruits warriors from various remote villages, in one of which he meets a truly great warrior named Tsuzuki. However, he has little interest in the revolution, he has a platonic romance with a local peasant woman and an existential dilemma - it seems that he can no longer kill.

Starring in the film: Sosuke Ikematsu ("Falling Camellia"), Yu Aoi ("Vagabond Kenshin" trilogy), Koji Kato ("Gintama 2"), Tatsuya Nakamura (The Ups and Downs franchise), as well as himself Shinya Tsukamoto.

The film, having spent time at film festivals, has finally “decided” on the release date - November 24 2018 years "The Killing" will be released in Japan.

The next Japanese project that interests us is called "Wild Dance of Swords" (Touken Ranbu: The Movie). This franchise originated from a 2015 computer game, which was a card game simulator in a samurai setting. Since then, the franchise has already released three animated series and one full-length cartoon. Now it's the turn of the big screen.

The director of the future samurai action film is Saiji Yakumo, who had previously worked exclusively on “girl” melodramas (“My Fake Girlfriend”, “Mars”, Girls in the Dark”).

The plot will unfold around eight swords, which were used at different times by the legendary heroes of Japan. A certain mysterious entity freed the souls of the swords and sealed them in the bodies of young warriors, whom she sent during the reign of Oda Nabunaga in 1852. Now eight brave warriors must overthrow the shogun and rewrite the course of history.

The film has a solid cast of popular young actors: Hiroki Suzuki ("Kamen Rider Double and Decade"), Yoshihiko Aramaki ("Saturday"), Ryo Kitamura ("The Universe at Your Fingertips"), Hiroaki Iwanaga ("Anger"), Tomoki Hirose (“Look at the flying fish”) and others.

The film opens in Japan January 18 2019 years.

We would like to finish today’s selection with a film called "Kingdom" (Kingdom) and is an adaptation of the famous comic book and cartoon series by Hari Yasuhisa, which in turn was based on the legendary Chinese novel "Three Kingdoms".

In the director's chair of this major project from Sony Columbia Pictures is Shinsuke Sato, which is familiar to us from other comic adaptations: "Library Wars" (2013) "Death Note: Light Up a New World" (2016) "Inuyashiki" (2018) and "Bleach" (2018)

As you might guess, the events of the film take place during the Qin Dynasty. The story will unfold around an orphan boy, who, by the will of fate, met another young man, for whom, however, fate had prepared a great mission - to unite China.

The main role went to the rising star of Japanese cinema Ryo Yoshizawa (“Gintama 1-2”, “Bleach”), and his company consists of: Kento Yamazaki ("Jo-Jo's Bizarre Adventure") Kanna Hashimoto ("Gintama 1-2"), Kanata Hongo ("Fullmetal Alchemist"), Jun Kaname (“Mr. Maxman”) and others. A small role in the film was played by an action movie actor So Sakaguchi ("Re:Bourne", "Confrontation").

The film is truly a serious blockbuster and we are waiting for it. However, the filmmakers have not yet announced the premiere date. Obviously, this will happen no earlier than spring-summer 2019.
