British female director Nida Manzur maybe familiar only from TV series "Doctor Who" (2005-…), "Comedy Sketches for Halloween" (2016-2017) and "We are Lady Parts" (2021), some episodes of which she directed.
But now Manzur has made her feature-length debut not only as a director, but also as a screenwriter. And to our delight, this film called "Decent Society" (Polite Society) genre is a comedy with hand-to-hand combat.
Synopsis: A simple London schoolgirl with Indian roots, Ria Khan is determined to become a world famous stunt girl. But all plans fade into the background when her older sister Lena drops out of art school and announces her wedding to Salim, a representative of a wealthy family of immigrants from India. But it turns out that the situation is not as simple as it seems and Ria decides to kidnap her sister with the help of her friends right from the wedding celebration.
The main roles were played by Priya Kansara (TV series "Half-Blood Devil") and Ritu Eriya (TV series "The Umbrella Academy"). The rest of the ensemble cast includes: Akshaye Khanna (TV series "Grantchester") Serafina Be (TV series "Holby City") Shobu Kapoor (“The Amanda Knox Story”) and others.
The film's actors were trained and hand-to-hand fights were staged by a martial arts master who had a 3rd dan and was a British karate champion. Among other things, he staged hand-to-hand combat Patrick Waugh (“007: Spectrum”, “No Time to Die”), and among the stuntmen we noticed Lee Charles, Jack Berry и Adam Basil. Talented martial artist and stuntman Jeremy Marinas was training Jason Statham.
