The next film we want to talk about comes from the land of the rising sun. No, this is not another trash movie or samurai action film, this is quite a parody comedy with an emphasis on superhero action. Interestingly, the upcoming film called "Maxman Brothers" makes fun of the Japanese cult genre of tokusatsu movies, of which the well-known "Power Rangers".

"Maxman Brothers" (Bros. Maxman) is the sequel to the 2015 hit "Mr. Maxman" director Akihide Masuda. The original film told the story of hapless radio announcer Masayoshi, who received superpowers from mysterious glasses and decided to fight crime, winning the heart of his childhood friend along the way.

The hero of Masuda's new film will be Masayoshi's brother named Hideo, who works at the same radio station and has similar problems with the female gender. Hideo also gains superpowers, but this time the enemies are twice as strong.

The following actors took part in the film: Ryo Ryusei ("Zebra"), Yudai Chiba ("Mr. Maxman") Rio Uchida ("Kamen Rider Drive: Saga") Mizuki Yamamoto (“The Damned. Confrontation”) and others.

The Maxman Brothers will premiere in Japan January 7 2017 years.

In general, the tokusatsu genre is more alive than dead. And it's not just about the remake "Power Rangers"which is Hollywood releases in 2017, and not in the Japanese series that are released every year. For example, next year there will be another major tokusatsu film "Polymer Hurricane".

And maybe we wouldn’t have focused on this film if it weren’t for the director of “Hurricane”, who is Koichi Sakamoto, is a cult personality, considered by many to be the “father” of tokusatsu films, and his name is certainly associated with the increased interest in this genre of cinema among Western audiences. And all because Sakamoto directed 17 franchise projects "Power Rangers", which includes series, full-length and TV films, as well as short films. Koichi Sakamoto enriched the tokusatsu genre with other works: from the franchise "Kamen Rider" (aka "Masked Rider") Sakamoto has directed 10 TV series and films, and has also worked in franchises such as "Space Pirates Gokaijers", "Battle of Mega Monsters", "Kyoryuzera Electrosaurus Squad", "Space Sheriff Sharivan", "Ultraman" and others.

Koichi Sakamoto may also be known to visitors to our site as the director of some very good martial arts action films: both Japanese "Travelers" (2013) "009-1: The End of the Beginning" (2013) "Innocent Lilies" (2013) "Red and Pink" (2014) and "Kiri: Professional Assassin" (2015), and American "Sinful Game" (2002) "Devon's Ghost: The Legend of the Bloody Boy" (2005) and "Interrupted Path" (2008)

"Polymer Hurricane" is a film adaptation of the famous Japanese animated series about former street fighter Takeshi Yoroi, who now works as a private detective. He has a super suit made of augmented polymers that is capable of transforming into five different super formations. But there is a minus: the suit is valid only for 46 minutes and 1 second, after which the invincible Polymer Hurricane again turns into a simple person.

Starring in the film: Junpei Mizobata ("Escape with Gold") Yuki Yamada ("Kamen Riders vs. Super Sentai"), Mikie Hara ("The Masked Teacher"), Yurina Yanagi (“The Last Curse”) and others.

The film is due to be released in Japan in April, but exact dates have not yet been announced.

But the first teaser of this interesting film from the cheerful Koichi Sakamoto has appeared online.
