The Chinese film industry consistently produces epics about national heroes, whether mythical or real. Oh, if only our cinema had such zeal, perhaps there would be much more high-quality near-historical films about the epic heroes of Rus'. But let's return to Chinese cinema.
Chen Zhen is a fictional character who has become a real personification of the resistance to the Japanese invaders. The character was played and popularized by such action film legends as Bruce Lee in "Fist of Fury" (1972), Jet Li in "Fist of Legend" (1994), Donnie Yen in the television series "Fist of Legend: The Return of Chen Zhen" (2010) and Danny Chan in "Kung Fu League" (2018)
He made a new film about the hero's adventures Scott Ma, who previously worked as a hand-to-hand action director in many projects, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (2000) and "Fist of Legend: The Return of Chen Zhen" (2010). For Ma a movie called "The Legend of Chen Zhen" (Chen Zhen Legend) became a full-fledged directorial debut.
The following took part in the film: Chen Yiming ("The Legend of the Nagit Pearl"), Khaleesi Liu ("The Seduction Trap"), Zhao Teying ("Brave Hero") San Weilin (“The Mystery of the Missing Yacht”) and other actors.
The film was filmed for screening in online cinemas and premiered on the Youku streaming channel 14 June 2019 year. We hope the film will be noticed and reach a mass audience.
The next trailer belongs to a dashing action movie with a very original name "Secret Strike and Cannon" (Undercover Punch and Gun), also known as "Under cover" (Undercover).
This project is extremely interesting for several reasons. Firstly, the acting ensemble, which includes all the young actors of action cinema from China. Secondly, "Under cover" is a project of several friends: Phillipa Ng, Andy She, Vanessa Wu и Jiang Luxia, who planned to shoot a hand-to-hand action movie in the spirit of the Hong Kong school of the 80s.
Thanks to the directors and screenwriters Liu Kun-nam и Frankie Tamuwho worked on the film script "Fist of Legend: The Return of Chen Zhen" (2010) starring Donnie Yen, the action film was filmed back in 2015. But problems arose with post-production and the release of the film was shelved. However, the film was still released, albeit four years later.
The plot of the film, as you can easily guess from the title, will revolve around several “moles” - police officers working undercover in the camp of a large drug mafia.
The main roles, accordingly, were taken by the same bosom friends: Philip Ng ("Bruce Lee: Birth of the Dragon"), Andy He ("Kung Fu League"), Vanessa U ("Star Runner") and Jiang Luxia ("Bad Blood"), and they are kept company Joyce Feng ("Project Guttenberg") Lam Suet (“Kung Fu Showdown”) and Carrie Ng ("City on Fire").
The film bypassed the big screens and was released straight to DVD 28 June 2019 year.
We’d like to finish today’s selection of Chinese films with a new project from a venerable director. Teddy Chan, who is responsible for such action films as "City Torpedoes" (1997) with Takeshi Kaneshiro, "The Accidental Spy" (2000) with Jackie Chan, also "Bodyguards and Assassins" (2009) and "Last of the Best" (2014) with Donnie Yen.
Chan's new film is called "Double World" (Double World) and is a fantasy wuxia game based on the online game of the same name.
There are no plot details yet, but, obviously, the film will again tell about the age-old confrontation between good and evil.
The cast includes: Peter Ho ("Sword master"), Henry Lau ("A Dog's Life 2"), Jiang Luxia ("Operation in the Red Sea"), Lo Chun-Khim (The Monkey King trilogy) and other actors.
The premiere of this major blockbuster is scheduled for November 22 2019 years.
