The Chrysanthemum Throne: new film with John Foo

On the IMDb there was an announcement of a new film with John Fu (Jon Foo) starring. It is called “The Chrysanthemum Throne” (The Chrysanthemum Throne), and is expected to be released in 2013.

Plot:

We see Japan as an emerging superpower in pre- and post-war times through the eyes of Dr. Taki Akira (John Foo), Hirohito's most trusted companion.

In the story, Taki is an orphan boy adopted into the family by Emperor Meiji and his wife. Over time, he becomes a close and loyal friend of their son, Prince Hirohito, who will one day ascend the imperial throne. Being friends, they travel the world together, and Taki repeatedly proves his devotion to him. Ultimately, he tells the Prince the truth about his miserable behavior towards himself and others in their circle. Having matured and tired of living at the imperial court, he leaves and begins a new life among ordinary people, where he meets a number of colorful characters who will tell him about the realities of life under the rule of the Emperor.

As World War II breaks out, Taki enlists in the Japanese army and begins serving in Burma, where he later helps a group of starved and tortured British prisoners of war escape. He later embarks on a grueling and incredible journey back to Tokyo, where he learns that his old friend Hirohito is just a puppet in the hands of the generals. He is forced to intervene and return Hirohito to the only path that will ultimately lead to the end of the war and the salvation of all of Japan.

Notes:

  • There is an error in the original text - Hirohito is not the son, but the grandson of Emperor Meiji.
  • The title of the film “The Chrysanthemum Throne” can also be translated as “Imperial Throne” / Throne of the Emperor [of Japan].” This phrase can also refer to both the Emperor himself and the entire Japanese monarchy as a whole.

the fact that John has a new project is of course good... but in the film, as I understand it, he’s not going to fight, right?

This is just an announcement, it’s too early to talk about anything specifically, but there are places in the plot that can be filled with battles without any problems.

It's a pity, John has an office. the site is not updated, on Facebook 90% of comments are from girls, there are no answers to questions...
