Connection between Ong-Bak, Ong-Bak 2 and Ong-Bak 3

Many people have asked themselves the question: what does “Ong-Bak 2” и “Ong-Bak 3” to the first “Ong-Baku”. According to the information listed on YouTube, there are several nuances that connect all three films. This was stated by Tony Jaa in an interview, saying that this is the background to the first film.

Here are a few of these nuances:

  • The tree that served as Tienu’s refuge at the beginning of the second part is the tree from the first “Ong-Bak”, which the villagers climbed during the ritual to get the prize.
  • The face of the Buddha statue is crossed by a scar. [note: note that in the new “Ong-Bak 3” poster, Tien has a similar scar on his face]
  • The legend of Tien fueled the hope of the villagers of Nong Pradu in the first film.

Where did the teaser trailer for “Ong-Bak 3” come from?

Jaa initially shot the film with a duration of 3 hours. It was split into two parts, and the events from the footage present in the teaser (this explains the simple sound effects and grainy image) were supposed to be present in the big ending of the original Ong-Bak 2. Now these shots should be regarded as the first 30-40 minutes of “Ong-Bak 3” since the overall length of the film has been increased - with Jaa fighting with himself, as well as Dan Chupong from “The Dynamite Warrior”.

Is he dying? Will he be resurrected? Or what?

This is the spiritual component of the film that connects the Buddha and the Ong-Bak statue. He will return in a “boneless state” [note: most likely referring to broken bones]. If you look closely at the fights, you can see how saggy (or loose) his limbs look during the fight.

The premiere will take place on April 29, 2010. When will the film be released to the whole world?

Summer 2010 of the year.
