"Shanghai Animation Film Studio" also sent letters to some major Chinese cinemas asking them not to start releasing until the differences are resolved.
Film producer's response Liu Xiaoguang:
“The animated film came out in 1964, and the 50-year copyright was about to expire. The cartoon inspired us, and the use of the font design is not plagiarism, but a tribute. We are currently negotiating and hope that this will not affect the release date.”
In China, the film is scheduled to be released in wide release on January 31, 2014.

It is not known anywhere. The creators were busy working on other films, so Re-Kill was abandoned. At the end of 2013 they were supposed to return and continue post-production (although there seems to be NO confirmation that they returned and finished it), the film THEORETICALLY should be released this year, but when... no one knows. + the delay is possible due to the fact that the creators want to release the film in theaters and not directly on DVD.
