Martial artist, stuntman and stunt coordinator Stephen Lambert has passed away

Martial artist, actor, writer and one of Hollywood's most prolific and respected stuntmen and stunt coordinators died recently at the age of 69. Stephen Lambert.

He has worked in more than 130 films, including films such as “Revenge of the Ninja” (1983) “American Ninja” (1985) "Rambo 3" (1988) "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989) "Remember all" (1990) and many other cult creations of action cinema. During his career he dubbed Sho Kosugi, James Woods, River Phoenix и Jason Statham, was the coordinator of sword fights in "Blind Fury" (1989) with Rutger Hauer, played one of Senator McComb's two thugs in “Time Patrol” (1994) with Jean-Claude Van Damme and left a huge legacy in the stunt profession.

Lambert has been involved in sports since childhood and won an award in the 6th grade John F. Kennedy for physical training. Then he started practicing karate and it was this martial art that brought him to cinema. While participating in the BKF Karate Championship, casting agents approached Steven and invited him to fight on screen with Chuck Norris. This is how Lambert ended up on the set of the 1978 film “Good guys wear black” (a.k.a. "Black Tigers") - Chuck's first leading role.

Lambert was promised five hundred dollars a day in cash, which was more than he made in a week at his regular job, and he happily agreed, especially since Chuck often judged Lambert in competitions and knew his coach Douglas Vaughn.

A separate stage of Lambert's career was his acquaintance with James Woods on the set of the film "Best-seller" (1987), where Lambert staged fights involving Woods, as a result of which they began a friendly relationship. Since then, Stephen has become James' regular stunt double for three decades, and in the thriller "Police officer" (1988) friends clashed right on the screen: Woods played the role of an uncompromising police officer chasing a psychopathic killer played by Lambert.

Stephen Lambert was inducted into the Stuntmen's Hall of Fame in 1986 and was a member of the Stuntmen's Association for 33 years. Lambert's latest stunt work is horror "Havenhurst" (2016) and unreleased film "Lonely Ben" is a neo-noir film that follows the journey of a gravedigger who turns into an obsessed and dangerous man.

Friends and colleagues described Stephen as a compassionate, cheerful person and a consummate professional.

Rest in peace, Stephen.
