When casting for this role began, many actors with Asian appearance wanted to fill the vacant position. The role of Shan-Chi was assigned to a stuntman Andy Le, star of the series "The Walking Dead" Lawrence Kaoand Michael Mowho played the role Bruce Lee in Quentin Tarantino's new film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".

At the director's helm is Destin Cretton (“I’m Not a Hipster,” “The Glass Castle”), and Liu will be accompanied by an actress Aquafina (“Ocean’s 8”) and a classic of Chinese cinema Tony Leung Chu Wai (“Bullet in the Head”, “Hero”, “Great Master”), who will play the role of the main villain - the Mandarin.

There is no more information about the project yet. We can only wait for news about the rest of the cast and, next year, a trailer for the blockbuster.

Let's remember that Blade appeared as a character in Marvel comics in 1973 and became one of the first African-American superheroes along with Black Panther. For the first time history "Blade" was filmed in 1998. In this film and two subsequent sequels (2002 and 2004), he played the main role Wesley Snipes, who practiced martial arts, as well as capoeira, and did many of his own tricks. Unlike Snipes, Mahershala has no martial arts background.

The project does not yet have a screenwriter, director, or approximate release date. Most likely, the film should not be expected until 2022. But we hope for a restart "Blade" will take it quickly, since Ali is already 45 years old today, and several films are planned. Well, we just have to wait for more details.

In previous film adaptations, the role of Sub-Zero Sr. was played by François Petit, J. J. Perry и Eric Steinberg.

Joe has been acting in Hollywood projects since 2013, appearing in such notable films as "Fast & Furious 6" (2013) "Star Trek Beyond" (2016) and the series from AMC "Warrior".

A tweet from the film's screenwriter added to the news about the upcoming reboot Greg Russo about what's new "Mortal Kombat" will be rated R due to graphic violence. In addition, Russo said that the film will be the first to show fatalities - the bloody finishing touches for which the series is known.

Let us remind you that the film was directed by an Australian debutant Simon McQuoid, and the main producer is a Hollywood film maker James Wan ("Aquaman").
