Sequel to "Hard Target"?

Looks like the hunting season isn't over yet, and 20 years later, the classic JCVD movie "Difficult target"gets its continuation. Unfortunately, he Jean-Claude Van Damme, it seems, will not take part in the filming of the film, but John Woo, who directed the first film, is involved only as a producer.

Roel Rein (Dead Man from Tombstone, Death Race 2\3) has taken on directing the film and is currently busy casting.

According to preliminary data, filming will begin in October-November in Thailand. According to the resource no.nl "ABOUTthe hunt for people will continue in the jungle between Burma and Thailand".

John Woo commented on the upcoming project:

Although I had decided not to do sequels for a while, I couldn't say no.

In turn, Roel Rein said:

What an honor to work with one of your idols. "Hard Target 2 is supposed to be an ode to the old John Woo films shot in Hong Kong.

What do you think of the movie"Hard Target 2"can be successful without JCVD?

Let Van Damme play. If they film it in Thailand, let Tony Jaa act. If in Hong Kong, then Donnie Yen. If these martial arts masters are impoverished, the film will be simply cool

Yes guys...this is where I support you! He didn't have many films, but he was passionate about what he did. These POWER RANGERS, GUYVERS and of course DRIVE!!! I recently found a film on YouTube about how DRIVE was filmed. Lots of interesting things there. And most importantly, the director knew what he wanted and was sincerely sick of BI. Especially Hong Kong cinema of the 80s. At the same time, wanting to surprise the viewer and make a good movie. Now that's a creative approach! I understand!!!
    It's really a pity that it doesn't work now! It's a pity.

Can you tell me how to find a film about how DRIVE was filmed, what to write on YouTube?

        Dave,

Of course I’ll give you a hint! Here's the movie:

I often type the name of a movie into a search engine and MAKING. Sometimes a lot of interesting things come out.

Wilson Yip is a good director, but not a fan of his work. Although some of the work is interesting. But they do not have a sharp author's style. Which, by the way, Florentine has (but more on him later)
It’s not clear how Gareth Evans got into the brains of martial arts fans. Just because he filmed RAIDS? Rave! Besides, no self-respecting film maker will shoot BI even if he knows how..... I can say a lot, but I won’t clog up this site. There will be a third world war. Least. Let me just say that this person is nothing to me at all.
As for Florentine, he is a BAD movie Jew.
I'll try to decipher it. He understands BI and this is definitely+. I enjoyed watching the early SAVATT, REBEL, BATTLE OF DRAGONS. UNDISPUTEABLE 2 is an eye-opening fight!!! Chic! That's all. This is where it all ends. And it's not about the number of films, but about the quality. The above films had stories first and BI second. This is +.
By the phrase “sick in the head” I also meant real professionals in their field. And Florentine is precisely that bad Jew who does not manage his filmmaking in a profitable commercial way. But he certainly understands. Again, only at the level of prison special forces with a black belt. Not higher.

Why were there Jackie, Sammo, John Woo, Tsui Hark... who had their own signature in their works? Yes, because they were passionate about their work. We were sick of the movies, digesting what we had seen in childhood. Jackie is a fan of Buster, Sammo is a fan of Bruce, John Woo is a fan of Melville and Peckinpah, and Tsui Hark...(I don't know). But perhaps there is also something hidden somewhere. They all passionately wanted to reach the viewer, realizing themselves! And I will say that they did it successfully. These are definitely not in nature now. But because people began to betray their inner world, turning into cowards, following the lead of the crowd and paper banknotes.

      Jaidev,

Steve Wang was also good, who directed Drive with Dacascos. Now I'm lost somewhere.

      Jaidev,

Sorry, guy, but both "Raids" created a real sensation all over the world, and were able to even reach our cinemas, and this was during the superhero and youth slag... even "Undisputed" with its huge army of fans was not so successful... Yes, because he made "Raids". What do you think a director should do if not make a good film?

        jack krauser,

I will not challenge this opinion. I have my own opinion on this matter. This is the first thing. And secondly... furor? What a furor? What? In who knows what kind of fights? In Mochilov? In the outstanding plot and acting? THE BEST MOVIE and 50 SHADES OF GRAY also made a splash, but that doesn't mean the final product was a masterpiece. And the presence of a film in a cinema does not at all indicate its quality.
And most importantly - thirdly: I talked about FAN AUTHORITY. Which is simply not present in the same RAIDS.
Because these two films are no different from NTV films. Just a little bit of cerebral gyrus in the choreography. So Evans is just a guy who thinks he's doing something special and smart on this earth. Although in fact the opposite is true.

    Jaidev,

Wait, what about Florentine and Gareth Evans?

    Author's gravatar

There are no more “sick in the head” action creators and professionals in their field in the world! I declare this openly! Everyone is exhausted and there is no change. Because all movie MASTERS allow you to mess around, pleasing the producers and the audience.
The old ones have already served their purpose! But there are no new ones yet. Hollywood stupidly makes money and doesn’t care about any nuggets. China is bending over, I don’t understand why, but in Russia, just as they didn’t know how to do strong action with BI, they still don’t know how.
Here it is - the harsh truth of life.

      Jaidev,

Wilson Yip and Gareth Evans, I don't remember anymore

I don’t understand these cries about the need for Van Damme, otherwise the film will be slag. With all due respect to the JCVD, be realistic. It has already been released, with its endless duplicates...I was finally convinced of this after a pound of flesh...

And so, regarding the sequel: IMHO, the film will be released straight to video with Luke Goss. And it won't be for everyone... trash in places with some good moments of action.

    Author's gravatar

It’s all about the head and the right approach. It’s a pity that the creators themselves don’t understand this and prefer to choose a disgusting trash project, instead of turning to Van Damme just once and getting the long-awaited Hard Target 2 with JCVD! And not all this insanity with Vinnie Johnson that they are planning now...

      Ravee121,

There, the film rested not only on Van. No less charismatic villains. Excellent work by the composer. And the story itself seemed to end. There is no point in any continuation. The atmosphere of New Orleans, John Woo's signature tricks: all these slow motions, flying pigeons, shootouts.
It's a shame that people do THIS instead of making their own film!

    Author's gravatar

Judging by the latest news, they want to cast... ATTENTION.... Vinnie Jones! What a laugh...

It would be a huge mistake for the producers not to cast Van Damme in the lead role, for whom the first film was one of the best in his career! Fans have been waiting for so many years for even the slightest chance that a sequel could happen... And now, filming will begin soon!

It is also unclear why Wu himself, knowing full well what a wonderful action film he and Van Damme created then, does not make any REALLY SIGNIFICANT efforts to involve him in the sequel.. After all, it is obvious that without him it would be stupid to expect something decent and naive...

Yes, perhaps they actually offered Van Damme the role... But the whole point is that such a project should not be offered to the long-immortalized and legendary (and therefore lazy and unmotivated) Van Damme, saying “whether you want it or not” , and stick to your line to the end with the words: “Van, we’ll pay you as much as you want (within reasonable limits), you’ll work a little, without stress, we’ll quickly take everything off and run away.”

But on the set it will be possible to gently ask him, saying, “Just for fun, do a couple of kicks here, even higher here...”
The contract for the filming will already be signed, and Van Damme himself, already on the set, will not mind having fun and learning something for FUN))

    Author's gravatar

if I made this film, then bill would be like this, old Van Damme in the episodes, the main role is Adkins, and Statham; but I think whatever Chinese mediocre film will turn out

    Author's gravatar

It's not interesting to watch without Van Damme.

    Author's gravatar

After a sea of films and TV series on this topic that have been released over the past 20 years, watching a “sequel” without Van Damme makes absolutely no sense.
