Compilation review of the action movie Assassination Games

Since many people started mentioning “Killer Games” (Assassination Games), I think now is the time to publish a review of this film. But, as I have said many times, most of them talk a lot about the plot and acting, and very little about the fighting and action. Therefore, I again selected individual small moments from some reviews that were at least somehow related to the topic of the site.

Interview by Scott Adkins for ManlyMovie. Part 2 7

If you have already watched the film and have something to add, then do not hesitate to write in the comments.
...

Jean-Claude did most of the acting, while Adkins spent most of the time waving his legs... The film was great at the very beginning, but alas, I was left yearning for more. Don't get me wrong, the fight between JKVD and Adkins was great, energetic, well choreographed (better than their “dances” in “Shepherd”), in addition, I was in ecstasy from the various shootouts and the explosive finale. But I still craved more!

...

Overall, “Assassination Games” was worth watching. It was a solid action movie with a quality script, a talented director, a couple of powerful fights, and Van Damme and Adkins. What more does an action movie fan need? Fans of Van Damme and Adkins should be pleased with the film... Personally, I was pleased!

...

Some interesting notes from the author:

- Scott Adkins's accent often changed from British to American and vice versa.

- At one time, Steven Seagal, Wesley Snipes and Vinnie Jones were in contention for the role of Adkins. The author is glad that Adkins got the role.

- Previously, the film was called “Weapon”. The JKVD has a phrase that roughly translates to “I am a weapon, I don’t choose targets.”

...

As for the action, “Assassination Games” has something to keep the viewer occupied, but in general it will be extremely difficult to single out any particular battle or action scene... There are a couple of stylish episodes, but they do not cause much delight. In particular, Adkins should have been given a lot more fights than the couple of fights he was involved in. Van Damme, being older, handles the drama well, but when you have a guy like Adkins, an action star in his prime, him running around with a sniper rifle is a crying shame.

...

Fans of Scott Adkins' trademark “handing out of the ball” are probably better off re-watching “Undisputed” with his participation.

It should be classified as a possible film, because it is not mentioned anywhere except on the manufacturer’s website.

The weapon could have been removed better. Yes, this is not Florentine. But what can we take from the director when he has already made crazy films such as Firmware and Kill on Schedule.

There is not enough action in the film. There's some drama at the end. Van Damme looks throughout the entire film as if he is about to faint. I don't understand how it was possible not to use the talent of Scott Adkins, as for example in Undisputed. He really didn’t show anything interesting - it’s a shame. Moreover, the color of the picture just makes me sick. We figured it out.

Bottom line: It’s all the director’s fault, and I, like many, am disappointed in the film.

Sorry, it means I got confused...

"daughter as a whore who was brutally murdered"

The daughter had a cooler role, she played the role of Flint’s wife, who spent the entire film in a coma

    Sasha, +1 :)
Regarding Scott's acting, I rather agree with MadMoovz...in this film he is not convincing, and in some places his facial expressions are out of place. And the best performance, in my opinion, was played by the main villain of the film.
I wonder why Van Damme brought his offspring into this film - his daughter in the role of a whore who was brutally killed and his son in the role of one of the corrupt cops who was strangled by Scott? )

I liked the film, on the one hand I didn’t get what I expected (there wasn’t a lot of action, etc.), on the other hand Scott played very well, and Jean turned out to be a cool character, the director did a good job with his job, BUT in some places the low-budget nature of the film is very catches your eye.

PS Scott said that he liked the film and if someone didn’t have enough action... let them wait for Unisol 4, there’s plenty of it there

The film is, indeed, dull in all respects... The picture makes many attempts to hook you emotionally, but it is all very artificial, unfinished and mediocre... and even in the color of urine... Therefore it looks like the last cheap thing. Moreover, this is a very cruel cheap film... The plot is ridiculous to the point of disgrace, the acting, as has already been correctly noted, is practically absent. They could have saved money and cast any sporty guys with stone faces for the role of Van Damme/Adkins. And they only tarnished their reputation... it’s a shame...

The only thing I liked was the music! And I’d better not say anything about the action at all...

Now a kind of logical chain can be traced: if “Weapon” was “filled” with yellowness, i.e., the color of gun oil, then “Butcher”, accordingly, should be “filled” with the color of blood, i.e., red. :D

Worst movie I've seen this year. And the yellowest film I've ever seen in my life. It looks like it was shot on exposed film. About the fights, it’s pathetic to the point of impossibility, filmed in the Bourne style, the angle switches every 0.5 seconds, it’s impossible to see anything. The plot is standard, but due to the locations (I counted about 5 of them in the film), it looks sad and serially boring. The acting is extremely bad, apparently they filmed it in a hurry and didn’t allow it to be properly rehearsed; in some places Adkins doesn’t know what emotion to portray, and the result is who knows what. It’s simpler for ZhKVD, his character is cool as ice, and therefore throughout the entire film not a single muscle on his face flinched. A true Keanu Reeves adept, by God.
Verdict: I was counting only on action, I didn’t want anything else from the film. I got 2,5 fights filmed by an epileptic, which last no longer than a minute, act very crappy, filmed terribly, and are yellow (really, what’s with the yellowness in this film??? Are they imitating the game resistance 3???) After that I began to appreciate it even more Azyu Florentine, who produces films with high-quality pictures, fights and even good acting on the same budget and budget, which can then be watched several times.
    Sadness, not a movie.

I’ve already seen it, it’s a great movie, if it happens I’ll definitely go to the cinema!

2 SerYoga: Sorry, but I removed the links to Varezniks out of harm’s way (EvilDollaR)...

If I had the opportunity to make a film with Akins, it would be one big fight from beginning to end
