We already somehow wrote about being a martial artist and actor Max Zhang (“Ip Man 3”, “The Edge”, “The Unbreakable Dragon”) has signed on to star in the film adaptation of the popular comic book series "City of Darkness" called "Kowloon Walled City".
Let us remind you that the events of the manga take place in the 80s outside the walls of the Kowloon crime center, which was destroyed in 1993. The story is replete with colorful and interesting characters.
Recently, a little more has become known about the project. The director of the future crime thriller will be Chin Pou-Soi, who is responsible for the trilogy "Monkey King" (2014, 2016, 2018) and "SPL Stars of Destiny 2" (2015). He is still in the producer's chair Wilson Yip (Ip Man trilogy). But a well-known Japanese man is responsible for the local action and fight choreography Kenji Tanigaki ("Princess of Swords", "Hot Spot", "Vagabond Kenshin" franchise).
It's interesting that initially "Kowloon Walled City" intended for Donnie Yen и Andy Lau, but the actors were not included in the project due to scheduling issues.
Company Max Zhang The film featured famous actors: Louis Koo (Storm franchise) Richie Wren ("Silent Witnesses") Raymond Lam (“Tokens of Fury”), excellent movie fighter Philip Ng (“Bruce Lee: Birth of the Dragon”) and a classic of Chinese cinema Sammo Hung ("The Old Bodyguard")
The film is already in the active shooting stage. There were even a couple of photos Sammo Hunga и Louisa Koo from the set.
Cyberpunk action cast "47 Ronin", behind whom is a martial artist, veteran stuntman and director Ron Yuan, continues to expand.
Recently we wrote about the actors involved in this interesting project for Netflix. And now information has appeared that a martial arts master and star of hand-to-hand action films of the 90s has joined the film’s ensemble cast Mark Dacascos (“Drive”, “The Crying Killer”, “John Wick 3”). Moreover, it is claimed that Dacascos will play one of the main roles along with Anna Akana (“Kids vs. Monsters”).
Let's remember that Yuan's film is a masterful sequel to the 2013 fantasy action film "47 Ronin" starring Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada. In the upcoming film, 300 years will pass since the events of the original. In the modern cyberpunk world, samurai clans exist underground, as they are banned by the government. Unfortunately, the filmmakers have yet to provide a detailed synopsis. We only know that the new "47 Ronin" will be a fantastic adventure action film in which the main emphasis will be on hand-to-hand combat and combat with melee weapons, despite the cyberpunk component.
Company Universal 1440 continues filming the action movie, which is due to be released on the famous streaming platform at the end of next year.
Despite his 50 years, the Russian filmmaker Alexander Nevsky (“Showdown in Manila”) is quite active in Hollywood, picking up projects one after another, not only acting, but also producing. And while fans of his work (if there are any in principle) are waiting for a Western from him "Assault on Rio Bravo" and produced action-horror "Dark Dreams" starring Bianca Brie Van Damme, Alexander announced a new project.
To be more precise, he “remembered” the old things. It's about a police thriller "Furious Attack" (Savage Attack), about which Nevsky I told to journalists back in 2017. Then the actor tried to “sell” the film to fans of hand-to-hand cinema with the statement that the action in the action film would be handled by stuntmen who worked on the Indonesian duology "Raid".
Today the news is somewhat different. Firstly, the filming of the future action movie “moved” to the Philippines, and secondly, the official director of the action and fight choreography in "Furious Attack" someone well known to us has been appointed Art Camacho, with whom Nevsky will make this film his third collaboration.
The film was directed by Joe Cornet (“Attack on Rio Bravo”), and in the acting ensemble, in addition to Alexander himself, there are still two names: Ralf Möller ("Cyborg", "Universal Soldier") and Matthias Hughes (“Angel of Darkness”, “Knuckle Knuckles”).
The upcoming film centers on a CIA operative who must rescue his former mentor from an insane asylum under siege by assassins.
It is unknown when Nevsky and Kornet will begin filming the action film, since the latter is also the director of Alexander’s other production project - a horror film "Night of the Nurse" starring Nathalie Denis Sperl and former horror star 77-year-old Eileen Dietz.
All that remains is to wait for the next news and keep your finger on the pulse.

Let's hope for some decent hand-to-hand and bloody action.
The game is cool. I hope the series will be no worse.
Thanks for posting. Hopefully more comments soon.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm crazy about Xiao Man (I hope I didn't misspell his name...
