Review of the action comedy Alien vs. Ninja

On the one hand, “Alien vs Ninja” (Alien Versus Ninja) is a low-budget action movie with a trashiness that speaks for itself, with people in giant lizard suits fighting ninja, who are dressed in uniforms made of leather and lycra. On the other hand, it consists of well-thought-out scenes shot with the right balance of parody and seriousness, with high-quality effects and good wire work, with plenty of well-choreographed and witty fights dreamed up by specialists of the digital era of Japanese cinema - Yuji Shimomura (Death trance) and Kensuke Sonomura (Machine Gun Girl). Company “Nikkatsu” (Mutant Girls Squad, Cold Fish), who proposed releasing the film under the brand “Sushi Typhoon”, headed by producer Yoshinori Chiba, understood perfectly what she was doing, and the result was more than satisfactory.

Director/screenwriter Seiji Chiba, who at one time directed several historical action films and helped write the script for "Death Trance" Shimomura, has selected a quality cast with names such as Tsuchichira Donpei (Japanese spoken word comedian) Hayura Ben (master with a scar), Mika Hiji (from the movie Isaac Florentine “Ninja”) with its partial glamor, and Mimoto Masanori (Evil Ninja) with his self-confident heroism. The weakest part of the film is the jumping lizards, which are in no way capable of causing a feeling of fear; but with plenty of humor (some of which refers to Hiji's plastic-clad breasts) and quality editing, it hardly matters. And the final crazy battle with zombies, with the intrauterine fetuses of strangers and the subsequent duel in the air will remain in the memory of the audience for a long time.

It will be released in America only at the beginning of 2011. Maybe Japanese will appear sooner.
