Review of "Pound of Flesh" by KMiller

Jean-Claude Van Damme and director Ernie Barbarash have already worked together before ("Six Bullets", "Killer Games"), but I would not say that the fruits of their joint labor were very successful. But they teamed up again for an action film."Pound of Flesh" (Pound Of Flesh), and this time he joined the team John Salvitti as a fight director. Will it be an interesting story, and will a new fight choreographer show the class? KMiller has already rendered his verdict, and for your attention here is a review of the film "Pound of Flesh".

Scenario / Characters

AT "A pound of flesh"I was most impressed by the development of the plot of the film. I knew what the sequence of actions in the film would be, but you cannot even imagine how well the script is written and its development. Just when you feel that you have an idea of what is happening, the story takes the next sharp turn and causes you have new thrills Not all twists are created equal, but their frequency made me appreciate the great effort put into the film's plot.

The characters in the film are also quite deep and thoughtful, even if you don't see it at first. In the film, the two brothers face many challenges, and you will see how this affects their fate. I was actually very impressed with the issues the film deals with (are you willing to condemn your soul to eternal torment to save your own life?), and it really made me think about the motivations of each character. Even the villain in the film has truly justifiable motives, and it makes you wonder which side of the moral compass you prefer. Overall, a great way to diversify the genre.

Action/Choreography

This was a major selling point for the film, which caused a bit of a mixed bag for me. There are a lot of fights in the film, but most of them serve to fill in the blanks until you actually see the fight. JCVD and Darren Shahlavi  (here she is, actually). There are some interesting moments in the combat (some of which I'm still impressed by) and I love the flow of action that leads to a battle of wits. It's important to note that there is a lot of MMA in the film, and I think it fits the mood of the film very well. Don't expect a lot of showy action, but do expect a brutal and bloody revenge story. It may not all be great, but I think the fights are true to the film and I wouldn't mind watching them again.

Actually, should I watch the movie or skip it?

"Pound of Flesh" is a film whose driving force is, first of all, dramaturgy, which grabs every viewer and does not let go until the very end, there are enough fights and twisted plot twists in it. However, certain fans will not get what they wanted or expected from the film. Just banish your expectations and accept the film as it is. This way you can get the maximum pleasure from watching it.

What does the phrase “you are ready to doom your soul...” mean?
A soul can be doomed to something, but it cannot simply be doomed.
    Correct the turnover.

I really hope that the fight in the alley with Darren is not the last in this film. I expect that there will still be a rematch in the final.... it will be strange if Jean Claude is left without a worthy opponent in the final...
