Review of the film "Terror Squad" (Terror Squad, 1988) by NapoleonDinamitte

I study world history through action films, however... It turns out that the conflict between the United States and Libya is much older than the 2011 bombings. Already in the 80s, Ronnie began to question Gaddafi for international terrorism. But the even-tempered boy Muammar did not ring the boat in vain and bent his fingers, declaring the waters of the Gulf of Sidr to be the territorial waters of Raspberry-Libya. And off we go...

Review of the film "Terror Squad" (Terror Squad, 1988) by NapoleonDinamitte

A dying studio has seized on the political theme MGM, which in the second half of the 80s changed course to producing B-movies. Stunning exposition: a small Indiana town is attacked by terrorists from an oppressive North African country. And although the interventionists’ attempt to seize the power plant only evokes a condescending smile, the subsequent pursuit was a great success. Realizing that it would not be possible to run forever, the Libyans took refuge in the school building, where - what luck! — despite the end of classes, there was still a labor resource left. Thanks to the good old American pedagogical method: forcing minor school troublemakers to be bored after school in some office in the company of a stuffy social worker.

At this point, the action period of the film gives way to a dramatic-suspense period, which is no less interesting. The terrorist bloc turned out to be not monolithic. Only two fighters reached the hostage stage of the confrontation with the police and the Cheka. Jamal (Joseph Nasser) is essentially not interested in the great idea of vengeance on the damned imperialists, but in the process of shooting at civilians, beating, intimidating schoolchildren and watching schoolgirls relieve themselves. And Yasir (Kavi Raz), like a child, waving a machine gun and with tears in his eyes, is trying to convey to the hostages, who are barely comprehending from fear, that they say that we are not villains, we just want to ensure the triumph of justice, and in general, you were the first to start. Fortunately, teacher Brown turned out to be just as naive, and in good faith entered into a discussion with an armed uncle... The schoolchildren here are magnificent: the ladies are pretty and feminine, the boys are brave, although not always far-sighted. No one was left behind, being worthy people, all the guys will have a hand in saving themselves and those around them.

Beautiful bus ending in style "Police Story" reduces old school to a pleasant cramp. Firing an anti-tank rocket launcher into a closed bus door... from inside the bus! I wonder if the creators even suspected during filming how charming the movie they were creating was? Before the credits, a grimy girl kisses an equally disheveled boy against the backdrop of a burning pile of crumpled metal, as if posing the callous viewer with the question: how can you not love grindhouses?

PS Watch only in translation Dionica!
