Of course, all fans of action cinema are waiting for major projects with stars of the genre in leading roles, such as "Triple Threat", "Paradox", "Rebirth" or "Accident", but in between waiting for these films, you can turn your attention to independent and fan action films.

And despite the quality, fan art develops and sometimes takes on interesting forms. For example, we would like to tell you about a project called "Escape from North Korea" (Escape From North Korea), which again exploits the theme of nostalgia for the era of 80s action films, as did the popular 2015 short film "Kung Fury".

The project belongs to a filmmaker with 10 years of experience Keith Eng, who is professionally involved in editing and graphics, for which he even won a television award Emmy Award. Thanks to his love for 80s cinema, Keith came to the first company on the set Kickstarter. However, the company did not raise enough funds to begin filming the film. But Eng did not despair and returned the company to the crowdfunding platform last summer. More successful this time.

The 30-minute film will tell the story of the last American ninja who must help the president's daughter escape from hyper-advanced North Korea in a 80s setting.

In addition to Keith, who played the main role, the film featured: Ramon Saint-Pierre, Jordan Loewenstein, Craig Jason Weinstein, Woo Park (“Wait when you grow up”) and others.

Keith Eng himself describes his creation as a vinaigrette with a wacky take on the 80s, while paying homage to such cult films as Escape from New York, "Big Trouble in Little China" и "Game of Death".

Eng and his team should begin active additional filming and post-production any day now. We hope that the project will ultimately repeat the fate (and perhaps even the success) of Kung Fury, and not repeat the fate of another interesting project in this genre - Metal City Mayhem, which never saw the light of day.

The next fan project has a well-known basis - the DC comics character Harley Quinn, a web series about which the short film actress is going to shoot Jackie Verdura. This is what the project is called - "Harley".

The idea was supported by an independent director Fernando Jay Huerto, who films in his studio Jabronie Pictures short films on a combat theme, since Fernando himself practices martial arts and is a stuntman. He is also the director of the future web series.

The plot will continue the story of the 2016 fan film of the same name from the same team, which will focus on Harley Quinn, recently released from prison, who plans to get even with the gang of gangsters who framed her.

In addition to Jackie Verdura and Fernando Huerto, the series will feature: Ryan Green ("Legacy of the Tengu") Michael DeCamp (“The Night Before Thanksgiving”) and other actors.

The project has a company on the crowdfunding site IndieGoGo, and if he interests you, you can sponsor a future web series for a pretty penny. For now, we can only offer a teaser of the project.

If you are unfamiliar with the stuntman, director and screen action director Vlad Rimburg, then you are not a fan of action films. Yes, Rimburg works mainly on independent or low-budget projects, but the talent of this professional cannot be taken away. Therefore, any project of Vlad is interesting to us. Especially if he teams up with a producer and director Stephen Reedy, who is the author of such short films as "Tenderloin" (2004) "Paid in Blood" (2007) "Aliens vs. Predators" (2010) and "Man from Death" (2016)

We are talking about Rimburg's new short film project called "The Princess Chronicles" (Princess Chronicles). Just recently, Vlad and Stephen launched a crowdfunding company on the site IndieGoGo, which will be realized you can help too.

The future project is described as "Once upon a time, in a Fairytail" meets "In the Desert of Death". Here's what the creators say about the project:

With the success of films like "Wonder Woman" и "Explosive Blonde", we want to empower women by showing audiences around the world that the fairer sex can not only be at the center of exciting action scenes, but also tell a unique story. We have redefined the word "Princess" and invite audiences of all ages and genders into the magical world of fairy tales.

"The Princess Chronicles" is a two-season series, each episode of which will last 25 minutes. The ending of each episode will contain an epic fight scene.

Rimburg and Reedy presented to viewers and potential sponsors of the future series a four-minute video where the rising star of action cinema Amy Johnston (“Lady Bloody Fight,” “Women’s Fight Club”) competed in a fantasy fight with Micky Facinello (TV series “In the Desert of Death”).

By the way, for Johnston, this project is not the first web series filmed with public money - we are still waiting for the continuation "Dragon Ball". However, we will closely monitor this project.
