To the authors of the resource CraveOnline I recently had the opportunity to meet with the producer Arthur Sargsyan, and he said that serious development of the fourth "Rush Hour" (Rush Hour 4).
I'm currently working on Rush Hour 4 starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. I’m trying to make it closer to the first part, more down-to-earth, more realistic, I want to introduce two new characters, film it more naturally, as it was in the first part. Personally, I wasn't happy with the third film. In my opinion, the first and second parts were very good. I think the third part was a bit rushed. The point is not to simply bring them back to the screens in another part or sequel, throwing them into another city and letting them bicker with each other. I do not want it. I want something new.
Are we talking about two new characters, like the young cops who Chris и Jackie will give up their place in the film series? According to Sargsyan it's not obligatory:
Maybe they (the new cops) will be younger, maybe Chris is already married, maybe Jackie married Octavia Spencer, I don’t know. Being a married couple living in Shanghai, Chris goes to visit them. I don’t know, I want something dynamic.
Octavia Spencer, then still unknown, starred in a cameo role in the previous part. Will the producer be able to get her to agree to filming after she received the award in 2012? "Oscar" for Best Supporting Actress in a Film "Servant". He is 100% sure:
Undoubtedly. In a good film, if it has a good script, you can invite any actor.
Sarkisyan confirmed that Tucker и Chan interested in their return. The screenwriter has not yet been decided.
We haven't decided yet, but very soon I will make my choice. I have four or five names in mind of people with whom we are currently negotiating.
Brett Ratner shot three parts "Rush Hour". Hinting at your dissatisfaction "Rush Hour 3", Sarkisyan approaches candidate selection with caution Ratner.
If he wants to make a film, then there is no problem, but he will have to do it properly.
Jackie Chan recently announced that "Chinese Zodiac" would be his last major action film, although he would go on to star in films like "The Karate Kid", where there is a combat component. Sarkisyan is sensitive to needs Chana, besides, he already doesn’t want to “overdo it” with the action.
He (Jackie) is getting older little by little. I think the film is just right for him. What was great about Rush Hour 1 and 2 was the relationship between these two that came out of nowhere. It turned out extremely believable. We did not develop this, we did not pre-describe it. It just happened that way. I suppose there will be action, but it will have to be tailored to the current Jackie and not force him to do something he doesn't want to do.
Sarkisyan said that his source of inspiration was the fifth "Fast and the Furious".
They kept the old characters, took them and moved them into a completely different universe with a heist theme, and it worked. I think that this was done brilliantly, because if you neglect caution, then self-repetition cannot be avoided. There's not much you can do about it. You have to be extremely careful, and in this case it is precisely necessary to use creativity, energy, good imagination, work hard, then all events will unfold in the same way, but slightly different.
It is clear that if the differences turn out to be too great, then this will no longer be possible. "Peak hour".
No way, because there will be two different personalities, two characters. They need to be in a world where everything is built not just on mutual disagreements.
I can star in your film)) here’s the number if you need anything 89629338885
Chan said in a recent interview that Chris and Chris met with two screenwriters, and he didn’t really like the draft script for Part 4. He called it "boring."
Comrade Sargsyan is correct! The third part could not give the pleasure that the first and second possessed. As for his remark about the comparison with the fifth Fast and the Furious...I agree with him here too. His main task is to come up with something new, something that could make us go to cinemas an endless number of times, emptying our pockets - in the fifth Fast and the Furious, there is drama along with dynamic action. And in general, recently there has been a trend to dramatize the latest hits - “Batman” by Nolan, Harry Potter, The Amazing Spider-Man and others like them... I think that this is more pleasing than sad!
It’s sad that he doesn’t have time, but we can hope that they have enough strength and then he’ll be in time for the 4th part..
Donny is a recognized ace, but not yet a world star, although his performance is great. But it’s really possible to call him, and what’s more, he would look natural there in his masculine type. I would like to see Dacascos, Norton, Avedon, Casamassa, Bernardo, Shahlavi, Cook in The Expendables... Although most likely I would just like to see them))). I've always liked them. They had charisma, they had style, they had some zest. And they are truly great professionals in their field.
DoD Favorit how long does he have to sit? I just don't know.
Until December 2013.
And Bolo, and Snipes, and Tagawa should definitely go there too!!! Only Snipes is unlikely to have time to join them (well, you understand why).
DoD Favorit, I mean a global, large-scale star. Chan, Sly, Schwartz are probably three pillars. Sammo Donny and Seagal, with all due respect to them, are stars of a smaller scale, but they are absolutely worthy personalities who should definitely be invited to this “historical” picture. I wouldn’t mind seeing Bolo, Tagawa, Snipes, what about you?
Why the only star?) After all, Sammo and Donny are also recognized aces. I hope that Sammo will be invited, but I’m very unsure about Donnie. I can tell he won't agree. :) In general - Jackie, Sammo and Sigala on the set of The Expendables 3! (after all, Seagal is really stuck in shitty action films, he just needs to warm up in some good action)
DoD Favorit Thank you for the news, I was very pleased. Jackie is the only big action star who wasn't in this movie. And I can safely call him the king of the action genre.
As for the best films, I also just don’t understand those who can consider Rush Hour the best or even one of the best films, they simply did not grow up watching Jackie’s films. Even his films from the 90s are not among the best. Police Story (Part 1), Armor of God (Part 1) and Diner on Wheels is where Jackie reveals himself in all his glory. This is the pinnacle of his career.
When they ask Jackie fans what their favorite movie is, they say Rush Hour! Damn, they either have bad taste, or they haven’t even seen a third of the films with Jackie - only the ones that are shown on the zombie box. Can any Rush Hour stand with Jackie's recognized hits? Personally, I am against making a fourth part... The third part of Rush Hour... is so dull... honestly. I really thought that after such a “failure” they wouldn’t even film it. But you-know-who (BACK! :D bug) once said that Rush Hour 4 won’t fit. Little by little, old Chan is dodging promises like “not to act in violent films,” but he still wants to accept the offer to star in the third part of “The Expendables” by the magnificent Sylvester Macarone. :) I don’t know about you, but Chan’s presence in the film can radically change the entire essence of the film. :D
This is exactly Chan’s interview about “The Expendables.” And here he is a little frivolous.
I'm telling you, he's not suitable for such a guy movie. It’s better to start filming “The Karate Kid 2”.
I never liked Rush Hour, but Jackie hasn’t made any films where there were up to 4 parts (and I don’t think that First Strike and New Police Story are the 4th and 5th parts of you know what).
