Wu Assasins sequel, Jason Tobin in comedy, Scott Adkins to become a Navy SEAL

American fantasy series from Netflix "Wu Assassins" with the Indonesian hand-to-hand action star Iko Uwaisom (the “Raid” duology, “The Night Follows Us”) starring him was released in 2019 and received mixed reviews from critics and viewers. Indeed, despite the fairly “combat” cast, the series became fixated on its “magical” component, pushing aside the action as such.

However, the series was listed as active all this time, and fans were waiting for news about the second season. But in a recent interview Scott Adkins as part of his podcast The Art of Action, Uwais said that instead of a full second season Netflix decided to make a full-length film.

A little later, official information appeared about the start of work on a three-hour film called "Fist of Vengeance" (Fistful of Vengeance), which will be directed by Roel Rein (“Hard Target 2”, “Dead Man from Tombstone”), who previously worked on one of the series’ episodes. Further Netflix plans to split the film into two parts for screening.

Here's a quick synopsis for the upcoming sequel: Assassin Wu's secret cult of wizards will reunite with series protagonist Kai Jin in Bangkok to avenge the death of one of their own. But it soon turns out that the new enemy is an ancient and very dangerous threat with otherworldly powers.

It is already known that to their roles, in addition to Iko Uwaisa, will be back Lewis Tan (series “In the Desert of Death”), Juju Chan ("Crazy Bullet") Ma Qi (“Rush Hour”) and Lawrence Kao (TV series "The Walking Dead"). On returning to their roles Mark Dacascos и Katheryn Winnick not reported. But two new names appeared on the list of the acting ensemble: actor Jason Tobin (TV series "Warrior") and a Thai stuntman Simon Cook ("Ip Man 3").

It is not yet known when the films will appear on the streaming service. But this is unlikely to happen before the beginning of 2022.

Recall that this year Iko Uwaisa fans are waiting in the blockbuster "Snake Aes", as well as in announced projects "Express to Chinatown" и "Corridor", about which, however, there has been no news for a long time.

Since we mentioned Jason Tobin, then we can’t help but talk about the comedy kung fu action movie, in which he should play one of the main roles. The leading role went to Gemme Arterton ("Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time", "Vita and Virginia").

We are talking about a British project called "Enter the Dragons" (Enter the Dragons) by an Iranian female director Marjane Satrapi (“Persipolis”, “Jotas Gang”, “Dangerous Element”). The script belongs to the pen Joy Wilkinson (TV series "Doctor Who"), and among the producers are Jessica Parker ("Me and Orson Welles") and Cassandra Sigsgaard (TV series "Treasure Island")

According to news agency Deadline, the film takes place in the small English town of Colshaw in 1979. The focus is on Gloria Grimshaw, whose main focus is selling cosmetics and raising a child. But when the town's close-knit community of women is threatened, Gloria is forced to defend herself by learning martial arts from Chinese sensei Hao.

Recall that Jason Tobin we know him well from his role as the arrogant triad leader from the Cinemax series "Warrior", and the next meeting with the actor will be in the ninth part "Fast and Furious".

The project is at the pre-production stage, but the start of filming is scheduled for the summer.
