Summing up the results of action cinema 2023: nominations

As you may have already noticed, we have begun to prepare for summing up the results of action films for the gradually passing year 2023. We have a lot of plans: we also supply you with the latest news from the world of hand-to-hand films and, in principle, action cinema, we are trying to develop our own channel on Youtube, we are developing an update on the website and we are eager to figure out who was the best and who was the worst over the year.

Surprisingly, in 2023, films from almost all the major action franchises of our time were released. Judge for yourself: "John Wick 4", "Mission: Impossible 7", "Fast & Furious 10", "The Great Leveler 3", "The Expendables 4", "Tyler Rake 2", "Crime City 3", yes even Bollywood released this year "Tiger 3". That is, for action films, the current year has become very rich in titles, which means the competition will be high, and so will our interest. In addition, the year is not over yet and there is a whole month for interesting action projects to become available or available for rental.

In case you missed it, the FFI editors have prepared for you material, which highlights 2023 movie releases you might have missed. This will help you form a clearer opinion on each category. We remind you that you can (and should!) nominate films that appeared with Russian translation this year. It is also possible (and necessary!) to propose nominees for this material, since the editors see all your comments!

Summing up will take place in three stages:

Stage one. Proposal of nominees.

Traditionally, the FFI team publishes a list of nominations, in each of which site visitors and VK groups will be able to propose one or more options. It would be great (for everyone) if you gave reasons for the choice.

Stage two. Vote.

Just before the New Year, when all the belated releases come out and we have collected the maximum number of options for each category, we will launch a phased voting on the website. We remind you that votes can be cast for three nominees in every category!

Stage three. Article analytics.

After each voting stage (five nominations per week), the site’s editors will collect all the results, after which the painful, but at the same time interesting stage of analyzing the winners in all nominations will begin.

ATTENTION! We offer and evaluate only those films that reached the Russian audience in one form or another in 2023, but the year of their release may be different!

MAIN NOMINATIONS:

Martial arts movie 2023

– in this nomination films of any genre are offered, where much attention is paid to hand-to-hand combat and martial arts in general.

Blockbuster 2023

– this category offers large expensive and theatrical projects in which the emphasis is on action.

Best Screen Fight 2023

– this category offers scenes of hand-to-hand combat or combat with melee weapons.

Best action movie 2023

– this category offers films where the main emphasis is on shootouts, chases, stunts and hand-to-hand combat.

Best Action Film Actor 2023

– in this category, you are offered your favorite actors in combat or action films in one or more roles for 2023.

Best Action Film Actress 2023

– in this category, you are offered your favorite combat or action movie actresses in one or more roles for 2023.

Combat disappointment in 2023

- action films of any genre that had certain hopes, but which were never realized, as well as films within the genre that you disliked the most.

SECONDARY NOMINATIONS:

Asian Action 2023

– this category offers films produced in Asian countries (China, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc.), in which the emphasis is on action, both with and without hand-to-hand combat.

Historical, fantasy or wuxia film 2023

– this category offers genre films that focus on historical and fantasy action, including hand-to-hand combat.

Sports drama 2023

– this category offers films in which martial arts are presented as sports or semi-sports disciplines framed by a dramatic plot.

Independent martial arts film 2023

– this category offers films made without the participation and support of large or commercial film studios, films outside of full or limited theatrical release, fan films or films with public funding (Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc.).

Short Action Film 2023

– this category offers short films of any genre up to 50 minutes, in which much attention is paid to action scenes, both with and without hand-to-hand combat.

Action series 2023

– this category offers series of any genre from the 2022-2023 season, in which much attention is paid to action scenes, both with and without hand-to-hand combat.

Comeback of the Year

– this category offers actors of combat and action films who returned to filming after a long absence from the screens or played a significant role after a long period of secondary and faded roles.

2024's most anticipated film of the year

– this category offers films that you are looking forward to next year.
