Film "union” (The Union) was not nearly the flop I expected from reading other reviews. It has some impressive action scenes, some funny lines and a great cast. Yes, it's definitely formulaic and doesn't offer anything new, but for a quiet Saturday night it's a pretty good choice.
Plot
Mike, a down-to-earth construction worker, finds himself drawn into a world of super spies and secret agents when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne, enlists him on an important mission for US intelligence.
Review
I was unsure if it was worth watching at all.union” , as the reviews for it were generally pretty terrible, but on a rainy Saturday I wanted to watch something new.
Starred in the film Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry, Jonathan Simmons, Jackie Earl Hailey и Mike Coulter; The cast itself intrigued me, and if Simmons is in the film, then I already consider it successful.
"The Union” predictably turns out to be a typical spy adventure that doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but I still enjoyed it, as it has some surprisingly impressive action scenes, including car chases, shootouts and fights. The PG-13 rating may put off some viewers, but the action scenes are well done and there are plenty of them, and the beautiful international locations are a must for any good spy story.
Wahlberg and Berry they show virtually no on-screen chemistry and we don't even see them kiss, which is strange considering their romance was a key part of the plot.
The script contains some funny moments, but the villain can be identified in the first scene, so there are few surprises here.
It seems that "union” is setting the stage for a possible franchise Netflix, and if new movies come out, I'll probably watch them, as this one was much more entertaining than I expected.
Generally, "The Union” doesn't offer anything new and is as formulaic as it gets, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't watchable, and at just under 2 hours long it's fast-paced and has enough action to keep viewers engaged.
