Black Canary (2024) Movie Review by Eoin Friel

"Canary Black” is a largely unremarkable film and will likely soon be forgotten by most viewers, but it is fascinating in its own way. Kate Beckinsale gorgeous as always, and Ray Stevenson in his final role. The action scenes are impressive, and the film boldly delivers on its R-rated moments. If this turns into a franchise, I'd be excited to see what happens next.

Plot

Avery Graves, a CIA operative, is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying her country to save her kidnapped husband. Without the support of her team, she turns to her criminal connections to survive.

Review

I was waiting"Black Canary” because I like it Kate Beckinsale (especially in action roles), and also because of the director Pierre Morel (Hostage). I was sure that the action would be on point, and the film did not disappoint. Viewers can expect fight scenes, shootouts, and a great car chase through the city.

AT "Black CanaryBeckinsale plays Avery Graves, a CIA agent who, in order to save her husband, decides to take unauthorized action and is forced to find the necessary file, otherwise he will be killed. The film has a sense of real menace, because not only Avery's husband is in danger, but the whole world, if the villains get their hands on the "MacGuffin".

The film, as expected, is typical of its genre and does not bring anything new, but remains entertaining thanks to its good pace and short length.

This is also the last role. Ray Stevenson, and the film reminds us how early he left us; he always improved any project he was involved in. He was the best in Ahsoka and will be sorely missed.

I like that Avery isn't invincible and goes through emotional and physical trials, and has trouble knowing who to trust. The film boldly embraces the R rating with some surprisingly violent moments.

The script is unlikely to leave you with anything to think about after watching it, and it's unlikely that anyone will be quoting it in five years.

Black Canary (2024) Movie Review by Eoin Friel

"Black Canary” I'm clearly open to a possible franchise, and if there are sequels, I'd be happy to see them, as this movie lived up to my expectations. Some of the plot twists were predictable, but there were some unexpected moments to keep things interesting.

Generally, "Black Canary” won't be anything big, but for a streaming movie, it has decent action scenes, and Kate Beckinsale и Ray Stevenson. The film is quite suitable for viewing on a Saturday evening with a couple of glasses of beer.

Respect to Ray Stevenson forever! He was such a charismatic man... a real human being! A very underrated actor. In Ahsoka, he simply carried the plot! I worried about him more than about the main characters - you understand his character, you empathize with him (as in Punisher), unlike the absolutely flat Ahsoka and her companions. In the last frame of Ahsoka, with Ray, I just shed a tear. Literally! Knowing that he is no longer with us.
I haven't watched the film yet... but I'm looking forward to a good film with wonderful actors in every respect!)

P.S. I understand that the article has been translated. And the author probably didn't read my comment in the site's telegram to the trailer review, where I noticed the absence of Ray in the review.. but I want to believe that that comment was caught somewhere in the mental-astral plane.. and the author took this flaw into account, and the translator, thinking about this comment, translated it) Thank you very much!)
