Former MMA star and fight film actor Kung Le does not spoil us with frequent appearances in films. In the past year, Le could be seen in a small role as an assassin in a Chinese action film "European layout", and the long-awaited short film "Call Sign: Dragon" again never came out. But Le has an interesting project planned for 2019.
We're talking about a movie called "Target" (The Target), who produces himself Kung Le and star of hand-to-hand Vietnamese cinema Veronica Ngo. The company is developing the film Evoke Entertainment Group, and filming will take place in Vietnam.
"Target", which will be a crime thriller in genre, tells the story of real people - agents of the Vietnamese crime department Man and An, who are very close to one of the largest syndicates in Asia, trading in living people. However, higher political forces are involved in the case, and yesterday's heroes themselves become the target of government agents and criminal mercenaries.
The main characters will be embodied on screen Kung Le ("Bodyguards and Assassins") and Veronica Ngo ("Tam and Kam: The Untold Story"). It is known that, being the general producer, Le invites his friend and on-screen rival in the series to the project "Into Empty Deaths" - Daniel Wu. Most likely, the role of the main villain is reserved for the Chinese. But the parties have not yet reached an agreement.
Since the film will be shot in Vietnam, supporting actors and extras are being sought there. For this purpose, Cung Le held a casting, a video from which he shared on Facebook. It is not yet known who will direct the film. But we think that soon a little more information will appear about this interesting project.
As for Le’s partners in “Target,” they have their own interesting projects planned for 2019 - "Fury" at Veronica Ngo and "A penny" at Daniel Wu.
British stuntman and action film actor Jean-Paul Ly ("Prison Break") seems to be on the air a lot in 2019. Just then the action movie should reach the Russian audience "Amber", where Lee got the role of one of the main villains and "Night Shooting", where Jean-Paul played the main role. Thai director Vich Kaosayanada (“Ballistics: Ex vs. Siver,” “Tekken 2”) will again work with the action movie actor and son of the legendary Sho Kosugi - Kane Kosugi over the film, which was called "Max" (Maxx).
Talented film fighter Kane Kosugi, who has been acting in hand-to-hand action films since childhood, has not appeared in an action role for a long time. Kane's last screen appearance was a failed sci-fi thriller. "Terraforming" famous Japanese director Takashi Miike.
In an action movie "Max", the script for which was also written by Kaosayanada, the hero Kosugi is a professional killer with exactly 500 victims. At this serious figure, the killer decides to give up the criminal world, but, as often happens in action movie plots, he becomes involved in a deadly game of criminal bosses.
In addition to Kane Kosugi, the film featured: Jason Patrick ("Land of Gangsters"), Koichi Iwaki ("Silver Hawk"), Emmy Canich ("Zero Tolerance") and Japanese stars Shogen ("Sukiyaki Western Django") and Akira (TV series "Cool Teacher Onizuka").
Veach Kaosayanda and Kane Kosugi have already worked together on films "Tekken 2" (2014) and "Zero Tolerance" (2015). It is unknown when the film is scheduled to be released "Max". And, if for 2019, then we are already waiting for one film by a Thai director - an action film "Driver" starring Mark Dacascos.
German kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven, who played one of the roles in the hand-to-hand action movie "The Kickboxer Returns" with Alain Moussi, received his own project, where he will play the main role.
We're talking about a movie called "Black Lotus" (The Black Lotus), which is produced by Tom de Mol и Marcel de Block. They were the ones responsible for the excellent action comedy "The Hitman's Bodyguard" starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds.
Verhoeven will play a former military man on his life's mission to save the woman he loves from the clutches of terrorists.
The creators of the action film describe the project as a mixture of films "Anger" (2004) and "Hostage" (2007). At this stage, producers are looking for a scriptwriter and director for the future project. If they find it, then perhaps a new action star will emerge.
Danish action film actor David Sakurai has already appeared in several projects, including a short film "Echoes of Ronin" (2014), crime drama "Dark Samurai" (2014), as well as in small roles in the series "Iron Fist", action films "Killer Karate" и "Vow of silence" starring Antonio Banderas.
But, as often happens among independent actors, Sakurai’s projects grow without having time to be published. So, to unreleased films "Accelerator" и "Butcher" joined a project called "Angel's Fury" (Angel's Rage).
The film is directed by a Dane Michael Spooner (“Hand in Hand”), and the producer is listed Rene Berglum, with whom David has been working closely since 2014.
The synopsis of the future action movie is very standard: a Japanese gangster living and working in Los Angeles is desperately trying to get away from the path of the Yakuza and take the path of reform. The reason for this is the protagonist’s little daughter named Koyuki, because the father is raising his daughter alone. But the gangster’s former colleagues decide to teach their old friend a lesson by stealing his daughter. And now the furious father will stop at nothing to get his child back.
