New projects by Jackie Chan, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White and Dustin Nguyen

Restless grandfather Jackie Chan amazingly efficient in his advanced years. Having shot several projects in 2017 (“Armor of God: In Search of Treasures,” “The Foreigner,” “Heart of Steel” and “Magic Shop”), Chan did not appear in any releases in 2018. But the current period seems to be rich in films with old Jackie.

New projects by Jackie Chan, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White and Dustin Nguyen

Just recently, a fantasy epic opened in Chinese box office "Knight of Shadows: Between Yin and Yang", the premiere of the Russian-Chinese film is scheduled for September 19, 2019 "The Mystery of the Dragon Seal", where Chan played one of the roles, and a Hollywood action movie "Project X", where wrestler John Cena became Chan's partner. In addition, it is in 2019 that Jackie’s directorial work - the drama "My diary", where one of the main roles was played by his son Jaycee Chan.

But it became known about two more projects of Chan. One of them has nothing to do with martial arts and is called "Climber" (Climber). At the director's helm of the project is Daniel Lee, who made a name for himself in action cinema, having directed films such as "Black mask" (1996) with Jet Li, "Fighter Blues" (2000) with Andy Lau, "Star Runner" (2003) with Andy On, "14 Blades" (2010) with Donnie Yen and "Dragon Sword" (2014) with the same Jackie Chan.

The biographical story of the upcoming film will unfold around four brave climbers who decide to make their fifth attempt to conquer Everest in the setting of 1960 China.

Forever rejuvenating Jackie Chan got the central role, and he is accompanied by not the least names: Jackie Wu (duology "War of the Wolves"), Jing Boran ("Monster Hungt") and Zhang Ziyi ("Hero"). Rumors claim that another Chinese film star will be involved in the cast - Mark Chao ("Detective Dee and the Four Heavenly Kings"), but this is not certain.

Nothing more is known about the project. Obviously, the film will premiere no earlier than 2020.

Chan's other project is closer to the theme of our site. We're talking about an action movie "Vanguard" (Vanguard) directed by Stanley Tuna, with whom Jackie has many joint films: "Police Story 3: Super Cop" (1992) "Rumble in the Bronx" (1995) "First hit" (1995) "Myth" (2005) and "Armor of God: In Search of Treasure" (2017)

In the duo's next film, Chan will play the leader of a mercenary unit that specializes in security. A wealthy businessman hires a squad to protect his daughter from a European terrorist organization. In general, the plot almost repeats the plot of the recent action movie from Netflix "Close".

In addition to Chan himself, the cast includes: Yang Yang (TV series "World of Martial Arts"), Mia Muzi ("The Monkey King 2"), Brahim Achabbake (“Undisputed 4”) and others.

Tentatively, the film should also be released in 2020. Let's keep our finger on the pulse.

New projects by Jackie Chan, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White and Dustin Nguyen

Not inferior to Chan in the number of projects is another star of hand-to-hand action films - Scott Adkins. Releases of such films as "Triple Threat" и "Ip Man 4", where the British actor has a supporting role, as well as action films "Revenge" и "Abduction" (former "Twilight Zodiac"), where Adkins already has leading roles.

Recently it became known about another joint project between Scott and the director Isaac Florentine called seized ("On hook"?). The company is responsible for the production process Premiere Entertainment Group. Isaac and Scott already have several films together, including a duology "Ninja" and two "Undisputed".

In the new film, Adkins plays a former special forces soldier whose son was kidnapped. The attackers give the main character five hours and three missions that he must complete. If Scott's hero destroys three dangerous leaders of criminal syndicates, then his son will be returned safe and sound.

Adkins was kept company Mario Van Peebles ("Hard Monday") and James P. Bennett ("The Kickboxer Returns").

seized Fans of the actor and director will most likely see it towards the end of 2019. We can only wait for the trailer of the action movie and look at the presented promo poster.

Another Adkins project is a role in a British science fiction film "The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud" (The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud) directed by Martin Owen ("Let's Be Bad"), who also wrote the script.

It is curious that the film is positioned as an adventure comedy, but the plot is quite serious. We are talking about the crew of a space cruiser that crashed on a planet that is set aside as a huge prison for the most hardened criminals in the galaxy.

In addition to Adkins, the cast includes Tommy Flanagan (TV series "Sons of Anarchy") Elliott James Langridge ("Jurassic Portal"), Lashana Lynch ("Death in Paradise") and John Hanna (The Mummy franchise).

Nothing more is known about the project, including the release date. But there is a shot of Adkins and his co-stars standing in a heroic pose.

I was not left without a new project and Michael Jai White (“Blood and Bones”), who has signed on for an MMA drama called "Cage Fighter" (Cagefighter).

The film is directed by a debutant Jesse Quinones, who also wrote the screenplay.

The story will follow a mixed martial arts champion named Race, who loses a serious and highly publicized match. After this, Race's whole life went downhill, and now he is on the verge of divorce from his wife and in a quarrel with his best friend. The main character must be helped to get back on his feet by his old coach and the largest MMA promoter, who are preparing Race for the last fight.

The main role is assigned Joshua Herdman (Harry Potter franchise), and Michael Jai White will play his coach. The rest of the cast includes: Gina Gershon ("Without a face"), Michelle Ryan ("Cockneys vs. Zombies") Jason Mazza (“Welcome to the Trap”) and others.

"Cage Fighter" is currently in pre-production, so there is no release date yet. But there is already a promotional poster.

New projects by Jackie Chan, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White and Dustin Nguyen

Star of Vietnamese hand-to-hand action films "Rebel" (2007) and "Once Upon a Time in Vietnam" (2013) Dustin Nguyen will direct the remake of the South Korean hit "My wife is a gangster". Nguyen himself recently told reporters about this.

The 2001 original is a comedy gangster action film that tells the story of the leader of one of the serious criminal groups, Cha Yun-jin. She looks like a fragile girl, but in reality she is a deadly bandit who, however, has honor. Fulfilling the last will of her dying sister, Yun-jin decides to get married and have children, for which she finds a simpleton who has no idea who his chosen one really is.

Director's film Cho Jin-gyu became a hit and spawned two sequels, the last of which starred a Chinese actress Shu Qi.

If foreign sources are to be believed, Dustin plans to begin filming at the end of 2019. And now he is preoccupied with finding an actress for the main role. It is quite possible that she will become Veronica Ngo, which has already starred with Dustin in his hand-to-hand action films.

And we just have to wait for more information and last year's film by Nguyen "798th Muoi", which we hope will be available for viewing in the current one.
