Former Greco-Roman wrestling and mixed martial arts champion Randy Couture, which thanks to the trilogy "The Expendables" Sylvester Stallone gained popularity and, as an action actor, joined a project called "Defender" (The Protector).

The film is the brainchild of the writer and director Justina Lee (“The Big Legend”, “Any Bullet Will Do”, “Desert”) and the genre is a thriller, in which, however, they plan to leave room for hand-to-hand combat scenes. Lee intended The Protector to be an homage to 80s action films like "Deadly weapon", "Midnight Run" or "48 hours".

The story revolves around aging witness protection specialist Mickey Rome, who is ready to retire after completing his last government assignment - protecting a husband and wife in a town in the middle of Central America. However, everything does not go according to plan and the quiet work turns into a dashing action movie.

The main roles in the film went to Edu Morrone (TV series "White Collar") and the action hero of the 90s Billy Zane (“Sniper”, “Predatory Fire”, “Phantom”), and the rest of the cast, in addition to Couture, is filled with: Danny Trejo (duology "Machete"), James Russo ("Donnie Brasco") Wil Rothaar ("Alien Invasion") James P. Bennett (“Finish Them All”) and other actors.

"Defender" filmed in the USA and Thailand using local stuntmen. However, there is no release date for the film yet. But we will keep our finger on the pulse.
