Ninja: original story

Japan. A young man dressed as a ninja makes his way into a well-guarded estate and enters the room of the beautiful Namiko, who at this time is solemnly preparing for her wedding. The ninja takes off his mask - it turns out that he is Ayato, a servant. Naniko is delighted to meet him, and the couple runs away. Masazuka, Namiko's fiancé, is enraged and brutally kills the guards, who were outwitted by a simple servant. Avoiding detection, Ayato and Namiko board a cargo ship to sail to America and start a new life.

However, months later, the past catches up with them when Masazuka and his men arrive in New York, intent on revenge. One of the assassins shows up at the pawn shop where Ayato works and breaks the fire, killing the owner. Ayato deftly deals with the killer's overwhelming firepower, but the police arrive and he is arrested before he can get any information from the killer.

Ayato is interrogated by detective Jim Freeman, who suspects that not everything in this case is as simple as it seems at first glance. Ayato uses his ninja skills to escape custody, and when Jim's boss orders him to give up the case, the detective's curiosity only increases.

Ninja: original story

Using his impressive skills, Ayato deals with the yakuza assassins that await him at every turn. However, now Namiko disappears. Ayato suspects that this is the work of Masazuki's people. While searching for her, the killers force Ayato onto the subway, where an epic battle ensues on a moving train. Ayato is severely beaten, but manages to escape with his last strength. Detective Freeman tracks Ayato to a nearby hospital; this time he is too weak to escape. Once the young ninja realizes that Jim is trying to help him, he teams up with him to search for Namiko.

Masazuka soon unleashes a group of real ninjas to deal with Ayato; among them are a female ninja and a blind ninja.

Determined to end this vendetta once and for all, Ayato returns to the pawn shop and creates a modern, advanced ninja arsenal. Now, in order to save Namiko, he will have to fight Masazuki’s army of killers.

post a link to Hood's first scripts

I found the link, but it doesn’t inspire confidence. Briefly: The Sheriff of Nottingham is not a scoundrel, but the MAIN CHARACTER, investigates a series of brutal murders, in the end it turns out that although Robin Hood is a thief and a gopnik, he was framed. The film would feature the epic siege of Nottingham, and in the process the sheriff would conduct an investigation in search of the real killer (the script author very accurately studied the topic and faithfully conveyed it to the script).
In the final film, only a few hints of the previous draft remain...

Both scenarios, of course, are still stupid.
But the final version bought me because from the first frame it said: “Ninjutsu has turned from the art of espionage and sabotage into budo.”
Otherwise it usually starts with the words: “Secret clans are among us...” (pronounced in a whisper :)) and then there is hopeless nonsense like a ninja sword versus a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Although, to be honest, I would like to see at least one film more or less close to historical reality on this topic. Or at least get rid of this miserable suck with STRAIGHT blades of swords and wearing them behind the back (ninjas had ordinary blades, like katanas, and they were also usually worn, i.e. on the belt). These details are really annoying.

Initially, as I understand it, they wanted to cast Scott in the role of an American detective. But then the producers intervened again + they say it was very difficult to find Japanese people who could at least somehow act and not lose to Scott in terms of on-screen combat. In this case, I like the plot much more than the final one.

well, yes, it’s hard to imagine Scott Adkins with the name Ayato))) Of course, you could come up with a lot of things, but again, a small budget decides everything...

Actually, the difference is very small, it’s just that this draft script was written for the Asian GG, when Adkins was drawn, they made a story about gaijin. What's really missing is the two henchmen in the finals, but it's still the same.
If you want to see how the plot changes from the start of the project until its release, then read how Ridley Scott's Robin Hood was conceived, you'll just be blown away by what could have been and what we got in the end...

I was especially intrigued by the blind ninja.

Agree. I would look at such a fight.

in the anime Samurai Champloo there is a scene of such a fight. Delivers very well.
