Michelle Yeoh and Daniel Wu in the series, Michael Jai White vs. the Devil, Frank Grillo in the action movie Florentine

Famous Chinese hand-to-hand action heroes 59-year-old Michelle Yeoh and 47-year-old Daniel Wu, who have long felt like they belong in Hollywood, took part in the series for the streaming platform Disney +.

It's an adaptation of a graphic novel. "Chinese American" (American Born Chinese) by Gina Leung Yan. It is curious that the director of the series is the director of the recent kung fu blockbuster based on Marvel comics Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Destin Daniel Cretton. Recently he talked about a sequel, in which his idol could star Jackie Chan, and today he is already responsible for a fairly high-budget series.

The upcoming series is an action-comedy with a dash of fantasy that tells the story of three unrelated characters: Jin Wang, who moves to a new neighborhood with his family only to discover that he is the only Chinese-American at his new school; the powerful Monkey King is the hero of one of the oldest and greatest Chinese legends; and Chin-Kee, the personification of an extremely negative Chinese stereotype who ruins the life of his cousin Danny with his annual visits. Their lives and stories come together.

It is known that for Daniel Wu (TV series “In the Desert of Death”) the role of the Monkey King was assigned, and in addition Michelle Yeoh (duology “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), the series featured: Ben Wang (TV series "New Agent MacGyver") Ke Hui Kan ("Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom") Chin Han ("Mortal Kombat"), Yeo Yannyann (“9th area”) and others.

Production on the series began in February 2022 in Los Angeles. We just have to wait for the trailer.

Michael has action films planned for this year "Commando" и Nogales and war drama "Go out to fight". Now a fantastic action movie from the company is being added to the actor’s expected films. Automatic Entertainment called "Death Zone" (Dead Zone). The film was directed by Hank Braxtan, famous for his horror films "Against the Night" (2017)

The plot follows an elite team of soldiers who, in order to stop the collapse of humanity, descend into a radiation-poisoned city and carry out a difficult mission using high-tech armor and weapons. But they need to be careful - with hell on Earth, they could easily meet the devil.

Company Michael Jai White ("Spawn", "Triple Threat", "Sudden Death 2") are: Chad Collins ("Sniper: Assassin's End") Jeff Fahey ("Silverado"), Antwon Torbet (“Killer Karate”) and other actors.

Code red! Code red! Director Isaac Florentine is filming another action movie without Scott Adkins! Yes, he does this sometimes, but we are already accustomed to this duet.

The film is called "Hounds of War" (Hounds of War) and is filmed by studios Trilight Entertainment, Jaggurnaught и Anamorphic Media. The main role was taken by a Hollywood hard worker Frank Grillo, also becoming one of the producers of the action film.

The premise is as old as time: the story is about a group of mercenaries who take on a job that they consider impossible. After a mission fails due to a shocking betrayal, only one of them remains alive to avenge his fallen brothers.

Besides Frank Grillo (“Warrior”, “Trigger Day”, “The Good, the Bad, the Cop”), the film stars: Rhona Mitra (“Fatal number 23”), Stephen Elder ("King of England"), former kickboxer, and now stuntman and actor Lee Charles (“One Shot”), martial artist, stuntman and director Joey Ansah ("The Bourne Ultimatum"), martial artist and actor Mark Strange (“Ip Man 4”), German martial artist, stuntman and director Mike Moeller (“One Million K(l)iks”), martial arts practitioner and stuntman Seydina Balde ("Denny the Chain Dog")

In general, as we can see, the group is extremely interesting. The question remains: who will direct the action and hand-to-hand combat. There is no information about this yet.

But the project is interesting and we are waiting for it! Perhaps after a not very successful "Hostage" Florentine will get his second wind.
