Merantau - Indonesian revolutionary thirst-quenching action film

After the August premiere of “Merantau” (an alternative title is “Warrior Merantau”), the number of various reviews and reviews began to grow every day. Since all the reviews that I was able to find are positive, I decided to gradually publish them in order to give readers the opportunity to find out why foreign viewers liked him so much.

Here is a short review from an Indonesian named Souza Nurafrianto:

I just returned from the cinema with my friend Rama. We watched this new film called “Merantau”. The word “Merantau” means “journey” in Indonesian. The plot is exactly like the title: a young man's journey from the village of Minang to Jakarta, where he dreams of teaching pencak silat (Indonesian martial art). The village tradition is that growing young men go on a journey, thereby achieving not only sexual, but also mental maturity.

Let me say that the first time I was intrigued by this movie was when I saw the trailer for it, full of action and kung fu-like moves. And after I saw the entire film with my own eyes, it turned out that the trailer did not disappoint expectations - the film is chock-full of action. I immediately yearned for films of this genre. “Deru Debu” and “Jacklyn” were my favorite series in primary school and they have the same genre as “Merantau”. If these films don't tell you anything, then the fights in “Merantau” are similar to the fights in Jackie Chan films.

So much for the action, but what about the story? I must say that the plot will not disappoint you because I wrote it Gareth Evans, screenwriter “Ong-Baka” (note: the author of the article was mistaken, since Gareth Evans has nothing to do with the “Ong-Bak” script). It has a bit of romance, heroism and tragedy combined into one enjoyable story. Oh yes, there are some comedic moments too, I think the film has a little bit of everything. Therefore, friends, if you don’t know which film to go to the cinema, then I suggest you watch “Merantau”, a powerful action movie with a good plot. By the way, at the end of the film I cried, and this is very rare for me ^^.
