"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" delayed until 2016

Many people are wondering why after the sequel to the cult kung fu film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"there is no news. But the news is not always good. It seems, "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend", which had very little time left for its original release date (August 28, 2015), was postponed to the first quarter of 2016.

About the reasons why fans will see Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeohand Veronica Ngo on big screens later than planned is not yet known, but perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Netflix planning to release a film for IMAX, and online services.

Stills from the set of the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2"

Cast of the film: Donnie Yen Michelle Yeohand Veronica NgoHarry Shum Jr.Jason Scott LeeRoger Yuan, and others...

Despite the fact that there was quite a bit of information on the network, Yuen Wu Ping has already finished filming and we should see a promo video in the coming weeks. Will wait!

Guys, I’m wondering how Van Damme was able to achieve success, but his colleague in the “bloodsport” series Bernhard could not? Damn it, it’s many times better than JCVD! Speed, technique (JCVD doesn’t have it at all!), acting skills are at the same level, external characteristics too.....except perhaps in his youth, Van Damme was handsome, and Bernhard has a brutal, purely masculine appearance. But how did Daniel fly by?

      JOHNSON,

Van Damme is the perfect movie hero. Appearance, choreography, charisma at +5. And of course everything came together perfectly. The films themselves turned out great and became cult, not without the merits of ZhKVD, by the way.

      JOHNSON,

Because Bernhard was deliberately trained as an actor-clone of Van Damme. No one was going to promote any individuality of Bernhard. The task was to collect profit from the remains of “Bloody Sport” by filming sequels by finding a similar actor.
And Bernhard earned more in the modeling business.

      JOHNSON:

This is because he did not participate in sex scenes, unlike Van Damme, this is a joke, probably because he chose wrongly what to star in, Van Damme’s films were shown in cinemas but his films were not, they were only released on video, Gary found himself in the same situation Daniels, although they sometimes star in major films, Gary in The Expendables, and Bernhard in John Wick, means they have not been forgotten, and they have a certain fame, although as an actor Van Damme can give a strong dramatic performance if he wants, and Bernhard has this didn't notice. And I also think that an action actor should not act in sex scenes, such scenes are not needed in action films, there are special films for this.

Actors of the first magnitude. It’s especially pleasing to see Ping with Donnie, which means the conflict is a thing of the past. Once Ping discovered the Yen for Asia, maybe 25 years later he will open it for America.

      Lindolion,

Ian could have opened up in America himself a long time ago, but he doesn’t really need it, because... in China he is now a MEGA star who earns a lot of money.

        Kelpaso,

I have not yet met a single Chinese who did not dream of popularity in Hollywood. Ian also took efforts (Highlander, Blade, Shanghai Knights) to be invited to the main role. He turned down The Expendables because the role was not serious. Vaughn Adkins lit up, but to no avail. Now in the States it is almost impossible to become popular in this genre. But the sequel has a chance, since the first part created a kind of boom in America.

          Lindolion,

You can try to become successful to a certain level in a related genre. Just in action movies. But for this you need to have charisma. As a rule, in action it is the charisma of the alpha guy.
Or be some Tom Cruise. Adkins, for all the brutality of his Boyka, is not an alpha guy. And not Tom Cruise.
And Donnie, no matter how racist it may sound, is just Chinese, and therefore will not be a star in the USA.
So, yes, you are right - everything is not easy with success.

            Ravenside:

Jackie Chan and Jet Li are also Chinese, but their films did well at the box office in America, but for some reason Donnie doesn’t succeed, although he is no worse than Jet Li.

              Dave,

They didn’t do well at the box office when compared to the tops. And they were never Hollywood stars. Neither Jackie nor Jet.

                Ravenside:

Jackie Chan - Rumble in the Bronx - Box office: $32 million, Rush Hour - 141 million, Shanghai Noon - 56 million, Rush Hour 2 - 226 million, Tuxedo - 50 million, Rush Hour 3 - 140 million, The Forbidden Kingdom - 52 million , Karate Kid - 176 million, Shanghai Knights - 60 million.
Jet Li - Romeo Must Die - 55 million, Kiss of the Dragon - 36 million, The Stand - 43 million, Hero - 53 million, From Cradle to Grave - 34 million, Fearless - Chinese film made 24 million in America. All these figures are only American fees.
And how did they not make a box office in America?

                  Author's gravatar

                  Dave,

This is all very, very relative. And the amounts are very relative. Then "Rush Hour" with more or less decent receipts, primarily because of the curiosity, but a very ordinary, essentially film, Jackie never made the jump to Hollywood.
"The Karate Kid" is an extremely unfortunate example to give Jackie a compliment, because the merit here is Will Smith and his promotional company aimed at creating his son's career. And Jackie is here like this... on old memories and old reins.

And don’t even mention Jet - some of the films you listed, firstly, are a European product, not a Hollywood product, and were not big hits in the USA. And their cash register is small. And secondly, some of these films were directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, and this is without comment at all, this is a below-average director.
