Short film Rope-A-Dope by The Stunt People

Meet Dope. He has to relive the same day over and over again. Each time he gets involved in a fight, gets knocked out and wakes up again the same morning. Just imagine what it would be like to be cursed, being beaten to the point of insanity every day, and it never ends? How can we break this Groundhog Day-style cycle?

The final material can be cut in about 3 minutes, because... The last fight went on too long. So it's a big plus that he didn't include that footage.

It would be better if they inserted these shots. They dilute all these bang booms with their hands and feet. You get tired of them. Everything should be in harmony. Especially if you start using objects and positions, and not pure technology.
That's why there was a delay. It's tiring to watch a long makhalovka.

I just don’t understand why these shots were not inserted into the final material.

    Yes, the turntable was cool.

Well, I wouldn't say that this is a completely deleted scene. Several EXCELLENT fragments, and what happened was played out a little differently. Cool, he jumped onto the parapet and kicked the turntable. Suddenly. Then the front somersault was very appropriate.
I just don’t understand why these shots were not inserted into the final material. Especially the shots with the stairs, or something like it. Interesting!

In any case, Alexander, THANK YOU for these shots!!! Material from Jacobas is always interesting!!! Well, at least for me.

There was too much length and I had to cut it.

    Good luck!

Now on topic. The video is great. I liked absolutely everything: from the idea and plot to the choreography! Well done guys!

I apologize for being Offtopic, but I suggest you take a look at the wonderful animated fight between Bruce Lee and Donnie Yen!

they removed the action scenes and comedy scenes + the director turned out to be a fan of choppy editing.

Celpaso, well, Eric doesn’t suffer from these diseases). It has all the components in place.

    I agree, Ravenside

and not just superheroes, because he still performs in one role all the time.

The off-topic is small: something similar (change of role) should have been the film Gringo. But the script was heavily cut, specifically: action scenes and comedy scenes were removed + the director turned out to be a fan of choppy editing.

Scott and Eric - it could be interesting. They are both dynamically very “springy fighters”, there are similarities in facial expressions and kinetics of movements, and a lot in common in striking techniques, although it would seem that they work in different styles. And Scott would play with new colors, play new characters, for example, comedic ones, and not just superheroes, because he still performs in one role all the time.

No need! Jackie will just drain it and that’s it.

    Agree. Sollet.

No need! Jackie will just drain it and that’s it. Those. yes...for Eric to star in a movie with Jackie it will be cool, but Eric's potential will not be reached even 30%.

On topic: as I said earlier...everything is cool, BUT after the second viewing I realized one thing...they dragged it out a little. Trim the training and the final swing a little, make 13 out of 10 minutes and it will be an absolute super-duper-mega masterpiece without any comments at all. =D

Regarding the “salt” - 200%!!! BUT Eric is a very powerful fighter and actor!
Too long? There was this feeling a little, but because of everything that was happening on the screen, it went somewhere. So to speak, what was invented was fully compensated in sensations.

I would love to see Adkins in Eric's SHORT FILM.

That would be great: Eric would get a star like Scott, and Scott would star in something extremely unusual and cool. Everyone will be happy, especially fighting game fans. =)

My opinion is that Eric definitely needs to work with Jackie Chan! Or Jackie Chan and Eric. This is at least!!!

As for me personally, he gave me the seed and even greater passion for creating something powerful and interesting in fights.

I will repeat myself, but I will say again that I think Eric and his team are one of the best. In this short film, in addition to all the advantages of the script, drama and all sorts of details (comedy ones in particular), of course, there are huge advantages in staging a fighting game. How I love these long takes, when a whole bunch of blows and interactions are filmed without cuts. Returning just to the conversation about the fight between Donnie and Ken in Special ID, in which a lot of movements were cut off by editing, as a result of which the nerve and dynamics are torn. Donnie and his cameramen/editors need to take Eric's example.

In this short film, everything is very competent and everything in moderation. Fight one on one, with two, with three. Somewhere it even reminded me of the ending of POLICE STORY in a fight against three. It's very possible. And I personally was impressed by the fact that the guys are excellent fighters, but they acted as if they were fighting on the street. Great! This is a big plus.
As for the game, I have not yet seen the best among this movie!

    Thank you!

Sweeping in the face with a broom - it turned out original))

These guys are real diamonds, talented in every aspect!
I liked everything - the script, cinematography, music, humor, harmony in everything. The fighting game is incomparable as always!
And Eric is also a wonderful actor.
In unsuccessful takes I noticed scenes that for some reason were not included in the final version, which is a pity...

Eric, success and achievements to you and your team! Thanks for what you do!

It’s not me who needs to be thanked, but Eric and his team. He reads the site from time to time, it is quite possible that he will unsubscribe here if he understands what is written in the comments.

Still as it should be! After all, who else but you is the one who mainly looks for these interesting films! May God give you more time and health to find something like this! And in general for everything that you do in this life!
    Thank you!

Say S U P E R!!! It's the same as SAYING NOTHING. You can say a lot about the finds, acting, drive and everything that is in this film, but is it worth it? I advise everyone to watch this video. I was happy to add this super motivation to my collection!
    BRAVO!!!
