Short films ODDJOB, Fatal Fury, The Fork Effect, Tokyo Assassins and Breaking Out

The time has come to introduce visitors to our site to another selection of short films and action videos that we liked. And remember, we are very happy when you leave comments under our materials. This motivates us a lot. Let's go!

Survival game

Another video with a one-on-one fight was presented by a Russian stuntman Sergey Morin. Unfortunately, there are treacherously few story-driven short films from Russian stunt teams. But we welcome any opportunity to show you a Russian product.

In the video, Sergei fought with Alexander Fevralev.

A Tribute to Fighting Games

A Dutch martial artist, stuntman and actor decided to show his “respect” to classic fighting games Ron Smoorenburg (“Who Am I?”, “Tekken 2”, “Triple Threat”), who fought with a Thai-American stunt girl Tin Sue.

The fight between these two on the roof of one of the skyscrapers in Thailand is similar to such fighting games as Street Fighter, Tekken и Dead or Alive.

ODDJOB: A Kill from the Other Side

For those interested in action cinema a little deeper than "Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins" the name of the British martial artist and stuntman Chris Howard should be familiar. Apart from his iconic role as Ken Masters in the web series "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist" (2014) and "Street Fighter: Resurrection" (2016), Howard took part in such action films as "Order of the Dragon" (2011) "Invasion from Outside" (2012) and "Hooligans 3" (2013)

After the TV series "Street Fighter" director Joey Ansah canceled, Chris created a creative association called Rogue Origin Films. As part of it, as planned by Howard, videos will be shot about the confrontation between cult characters from comics, films and cartoons.

However, the first work of the creative association was a short film about two spies, to which the guys paid tribute to the films about James Bond. The titular role of Bond was played by himself Chris Howard, and the role of his sworn enemy Oddjob went to a stuntman Josh Han.

Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves

The next video from Howard is dedicated to the famous series of games, comics and anime "Fatal Fury".

In the story of this short film, the legendary participant in the “King of Fighters” tournament, Terry “Hunggry Wolf” Bogarde, decides to fight his adopted son Rock Howard so that he would not be so confident in his abilities and would not strive to get into the cruel tournament.

The role of Terry was played by himself Chris Howard, and Rock - Josh Maybee, who directed the short film and did the fight choreography.

The Fork Effect

An original French director made another comedy sketch Godfroy Rikkwert.

Describe what happens in the film "Fork Effect" difficult. This farce comedy is a must watch. Thrash, frenzy, interesting stunt discoveries - it's all there. So we recommend it.

Tokyo Assassins

A former member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Association - martial artist, stuntman, actor, screenwriter and director - has emerged with a new short film Robert Samuels.

This time his independent film company R4Films LLC and he personally prepared a project called "Tokyo Assassins". Well... The title perfectly describes the plot clash between two professional female assassins and a retired mercenary.

The following took part in the film: Cage Yami, Stephanie Pam и Angela Jordan. Fight choreography was also done by a well-known fan artist Joey Min.

Breaking Out

Another stunt team called BarilliantAction and director Kevin Barley released their long-term construction.

20 minute short film with title "Break Out" will tell about the escape of an experimental soldier from a secret laboratory in which they experiment on people.

Even though we are publishing the film only now, it actually dates back to 2020, since it was released at the end of last summer. We missed it then, but we cannot help but share this work.

The main role in the film was played by a professional American wrestler Tony Salantri.

Is it correct to call a video consisting of one fight scene a short film if there is no plot?

      VKontakteUser34,

In the materials themselves, we try to call them “videos” and “sketches,” but in general, they are also short films. Just not plot-related.

Basically, all these short films are worthy of being more or less ordinary scenes in non-hand-to-hand or hand-to-hand-B action films.

“Game of Survival” - the production design is clearly visible. And I honestly don’t understand how to describe it, but it’s clear from the quality of the filming (lighting, etc.) that the Russians filmed. It seems that the technology available all over the world is the same, and the post-processing is the same, but you can still see something like that.

“Tribute to games” - in principle, nothing special, but not bad. I enjoyed watching it and don't want to watch it again. Although... Good stylization for a fighting game. The girl is not completely hopeless, you more or less believe in her fighting skills.

"Oddjob" is a snub. Moreover, the quality is at the level of an ordinary scene in a hand-to-hand action movie.

Fatal Fury is nothing special, but not bad. Fighting in shallow water adds a trick. I didn't regret watching it.

“Fork Effect” is not a combat scene (there are a few stunts), but trash, frenzy and sodomy, as well as blood, guts, race... Short. You can watch it, especially since it’s short. The facial expression of the bearded man (whose house, it must be understood, is where everyone is visiting) is a delight.

Tokyo Assassins - cheerful, dynamic, technical, small.

And finally, “Escape.” The surroundings are confusing, but what kind of secret laboratory is this in a sewer or, at most, in an abandoned Mexican/Asian prison? Although... Were these his hallucinations? The stuntmen are in decent shape and worked on the choreography, but it looks the most unreliable of the entire set. The characters even wait one on one when they need to shoot or hit, and stuff like that.

    Something like that.
